Is it possible to turn off iMac screen while watching TV thru HDMI?

I want to use my TV or my projector when watching movies thru my iMac 27".

Im using HDMI for this but its irritating to see my iMac screen ON.

Is it possible to turn the screen off?
Or simply use my Tv/Projector as my primary display and simply temporary disabling the iMac as a display?

The only way I know to do this is to install switchresx Here I suggest trying it for the 10 days before buying it and see if its what you are looking for. Ive used it and it does allow you to turn off specific screens

If you hold down the CONTROL SHIFT keys & then press the EJECT key - it will put the screen to sleep ( but not the iMac )
