Just to say I have started another thread in the OSX 10.10 section here:

It relates to my 4.1-5.1 upgraded cMP after the public beta 10.10 install I have noticed my fans sit at idle where they used to fluctuate depending on temps and usage.
Question is, when I installed the 10.10 beta would that of effect the core settings for fans etc as I've reset the SMC and tried to run the apple hardware tool (stalls during pre check) with no luck, as I have mavericks 10.9.4 on another startup drive and that has the same issues.
Once I've ruled out it's not a hardware issue I'll remove this from this section and just keep the thread going in the OSX section.
