Uk got a £100 decrease on lower 15", £200 on higher.

Happy with that. Now I'm debating the 2.8Ghz upgrade, and still not sure if I should go for the 1Tb!

Baseline MBP still 128? Ffs.

I think I'm just gonna pick up the 13" 8/256 once it gets cheaper on Amazon or something.

Unless the SSD is easy to swap out?

At least it now has 8GB of RAM. A lot of people who work with video and photo editing on the go just use external backup for data they are not currently using. 128GB is just right for these people. Stop complaining just because it is not to your standard.

Very easy to swap out. You can buy replacement SSD's on eBay if you have the late 2013-14 models. Or there are more options for 2012-early 2013 models.

Are you for sure about this? I heard that there were no replacement drives for the late 2013 rmbp and as a consequence this 2014 which just got released

Also is it cheaper going the eBay or unofficial route versus just getting 256 from apple itself? It actually seems as expensive from the prices I checked on eBay compared to apple... So even if it's possible with the late 2013 and current macs why would it be worth it?

If you go on iFixit you can see for yourself how simple it is to open up the rMBPs and replace the SSDs (if you have the tools). It's probably cheaper to upgrade yourself when you factor in selling the smaller SSD.

I know. But not all rmbps ( it seems that late 2013 and current ones are not upgradeable not because you can't open them but because you can't buy the specific compatible ssds from the off market...

Yeah you have to make sure that you buy the right SSD model. On eBay, I usually just do a search for "MacBook retina 512" or "MacBook retina 1tb" and sort from low to high. Also the 2013-14 MBAs use the same SSD formats as late 2013-14 rMBPs, so you can search for those.

Prior to yesterday, I had my eyes on the 13" RMBP 256GB SSD, but I don't really need all of that extra space. It's nice to have, but I don't really need it. The 128GB base model is actually tempting because it now have 8GB of RAM. My question for you guys is do you know what the performance of the 128GB SSD is like? I can't seem to find any benchmarks comparing the 128GB SSD model to the 256GB SSD model for the previous generation.

For anyone with the new 2.5ghz MBP 15" with the GT750M, can you run the blackmagic disk test and see if there is a hissing like sound coming from the notebook when it is reading?

Not exactly. Currently no proprietary PCI-e SSD's used in the late-2013 and onwards computers are being made (apart from Apple of course). If you were to find one on eBay or similar, it would have to be a broken machine used for parts etc.

I'll be doing a test with mine when it arrives, but it shouldn't because there's no moving parts.

I would be really interested in Cinebench R11.5 CPU results of the i7/2,5GhZ/16GB/512GB model. Has someone already done some testings?
