"Between the Hedges"
New domain, fresh install of WP
Everything is fine

Then, after 2 days, my header image shows a broken image
I start looking and all my images are broken, thumbnails, theme thumbnails, everything

I do an uninstall and a fresh install... same thing
I do an uninstall, delete all files in folder, and a fresh install... same thing
I do an uninstall, delete all files in folder, delete all databases, do a manual install... same thing

I am good with just clearing it all out and starting over, but I am obviously missing something somewhere

Hostmonster is the host
WP 3.9.1

Edit:

Did a fresh install on another domain, same host
Same result

Edit2:

So I am assuming it is some kind of permissions error
But I have no idea how to track it down

Suggestions?

There have been scores of reasons this has happened to a site I was deploying. We should start with the easy stuff first.

You did a fresh install to a remote host using their installer package and everything worked for two days?

OR

You did a fresh install by dragging or FTP'ing a build into your public_html folder on your host?

PS I believe the manual install is the hint we need. Have you tried regenerating your permalinks?

I have done both with the same result
I originally started with the one click installer on Hostmonster
I have since uninstalled and reinstalled one click and FTP manually

I have one site in my root that works fine
Nothing in the subs will work now with any install, manual or one click

Edit
How do I regenerate my permalinks?

Edit2
I have a broken image I installed on the sample post
I click the image and get this... "You do not have permission for this request /wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Compass.png"

Dude, you are the MAN

I have been fighting this 2 days
I changed my permalink format and viola, it works
Don't know why, but I don't care :)

Thanks... gonna play and see if this remains stable

Ok so I have played with this and I can set my permalinks to any format OTHER than default and the images work fine
But if I set to default, they break
I don't understand :(

Any thoughts?

Are you using relative links in your code for pulling in images to a page?

Did you upload a SQL dump from your local machine without altering some paths?

Depending on your hosting it could be an .htaccess or web.config issue, also.

I think that reason is the most likely.
