Apparent Photo of 5.5-Inch iPhone 6 Battery Reveals 2,915 mAh Capacity

A purported photo of the 5.5-inch iPhone 6's battery on Chinese site Apple*Daily [Google Translate] (via Macotakara) alleges that the larger new iPhone could have a capacity of 2,915 mAh. The photo shows the battery carrying an Apple part number of 616-0675 and that it runs at 4.35 volts, although no model number is shown.

While it's difficult to confirm the authenticity of the battery, it does appear to have markings similar to other Apple batteries and looks to have the necessary proportions to fit the 5.5-inch iPhone.

Reports have claimed that the final battery capacity for the 4.7-inch model would be 2,100 mAh, so a battery capacity of 2,915 mAh would make sense for a phone less than an inch bigger. It would also put the 5.5-inch iPhone 6's battery closer to the specs of the 5.1-inch Samsung Galaxy S5's 2,800 mAh battery.

Apple will unveil the iPhone 6 at an event on Tuesday, September 9, with the 4.7-inch model likely launching soon after introduction. The event may also introduce the 5.5-inch iPhone 6, but the model could only be released months later as Apple is having some production issues with the device.

But...but...THERE IS NO 13.9 CM iPhone 6!

Just thought that I'd change it up.

Based of the size of the battery to the ladies hand it honestly looks like a 4.7 inch phone battery rather than a 5.5 inch. I tried to keep it at a similar distance and same hand position, you can clearly see i didn't edit the size of either photo since i took a pic of the two previews next to each other. If it is an iPhone 6 battery it is prob a 4.7 inch phone battery. Also if anything i held the phone farther rather than closer so that again only proves my point.

They're referring to the user 1080p who keeps on insisting that there is no 5.5" iPhone.

Yes people the 5.5'' does indeed exist... And that's a great amount of battery considering iOS 8 will be optimised to be efficient.

According to the linked article at Macotakara, the 5.5" will be called the iPhone 6L.

the manufactured date of 03/2014 doesn't seem right. maybe this was a test batch, there is no way they made the batteries back in March for a September/October launch.

Exactly, it's probably from an early prototype that will never see the light of day, aka no 5.5" iPhone

I hope not. Then next year, it'll be called the 6SL. Awkward.

I don't think they need differentiating names. Treat them like Apple treats a 11" and 13" MBA.

Beat to the punch by luckydcxx

MFG Date of 03/2014. Does that not seem to early for the iPhone 6? They would of had to have the design set in stone in 03/2014 to have the batteries made then. Hmmm
