Hello,

Just a quick question but are all the SSDs the same as of 2012 in the macbook airs? I see they look the same but need to know which one I need.

Thanks

No
The storage devices used in 2012 and 2013 MBAirs look similar, but cannot be interchanged.
2012 SSD connects through an SATA bus.
2013 SSD uses faster PCIe-based flash storage

so the mid 2013 MBA 13" SSD's are upgradeable?
Any 256GB SSD recomendations?

So far the "upgrades" I've seen are removing higher-spec'd SSDs from other 2013/2014 Macbook Airs and putting them in lower-spec'd 2013/2014 MacBook Airs.

TL;DR: Tehcnically yes, the 2013/2014 airs are upgradable. We just haven't yet seen third party vendors (like OWC, Kingston and Corsair) make compatible upgrades.

ok, thanks guys.

I was hoping for a fast SSD with higher Read/Write speeds than the existing one. I'm waiting to see if the new MBA will be redesigned. If so, it might be better to just go ahead and get an upgraded one with a 256GB HDD instead of spending money on my mid 2013 model.
