I have a 20" iMac early 2006 Intel Core Duo 2.0GHZ as well as a Intel Mac Mini Core Solo. I am thinking about upgrading the iMac CD to a C2D and taking the CD and putting it in the Core Solo. However, my real question is if it is worth upgrading the CD to a C2D?

Obviously upgrading the Solo to a Duo will be a decent jump, but is it worth the hassle of getting into my iMac to swap these processors? I have opened up the iMac to swap the HDD so I know I can do it, the question is really if there is enough of a speed boost to bother or should I just upgrade the Core Solo Mac Mini to a C2D and not bother with the iMac right now?

Honestly, no.

The amount of work involved is way too much to "upgrade" to a pretty aged processor.

Save your money. Get yourself a new iMac.
