I was thinking a lot, but im settled for 4.7, im sorry but in a busy environment to use 5.5 will be too difficult and awkward, not to mention to keep it in your pocket while on holidays etc.
Even just to take a quick photo, 4.7 much more convenient.
Im upgrading from 4S with its tiny 3.5 screen, so for me 4.7 will be a god send already :) no need for even bigger :p
just my 2 c

After many more hours of debate I think I have finally decided. Going with the 4.7 which I'm officially dubbing the iPhone 6 minus.

I remembered that the camera on my 5 suits me perfectly. And this camera will be twice as good as the 5!(5S 6 minus)

Split screen apps. I'm used to not having it now and does it really provide THAT much value? Eh? I'm willing to give it up for comfort.

Battery. I'm literally right next to a charger all day long. No problems here.

1080p. The hands on so far say you can't even tell the difference. And it's better than the 5 which I already think is great.

So there you guys have it. My rationale. I also have been paying attention to how I use my phone for the last few days. It's mainly 1 handed. I'd like to persevere that as much as possible and be able to workout easily with a more portable device.

Oh and it's cheaper.

Whew! That feels good to have that decision out of the way!

Depends on size of your hands, environment you are going to use it in, what you use it for.
6+ offers some nice options however screen resolution on 6 or 6+ will probably look alike.
I started out wanting the 6 went to the 6+ and after walking into a verizon store and looking at similar sizes I really might stick with the 6. But its iffy.

Would seeing it on display really help though? There are competitors that have similar dimensions, until you live with it daily then there's not much that seeing it in a store will tell you.

I actually think it'd make the decision harder as no doubt the Plus screen is going to look way better.
Just seeing, no. But a hands-on experience can easily tell me if it's just too big for me or if it's at least worthy of a trial (and running the potential risk of a 4.7" 6 shortage should I decide not to keep it).

I have a purse that fits it and I'm resigned to buying a couple of ScotteVest jackets and hoodies for the pockets so that part's not an issue. The last iPhone I've been able to fit in my jeans pockets anyway was the 4S.

The iPhone 6 Plus is almost identical to the size of a checkbook. Throw your checkbook in your pocket or hold it up to your face.

You are correct. Pulled out my chase checkbook and the size is identical. Thanks for the tip.

He doesn't have it aligned right or something. The 6+ is slightly taller, slightly narrower, slightly thinner, and slightly heavier.

Yes I know. The iPhone 6 Plus is taller.

If the templates are accurate then I'll get the 5.5" since it still fits in my cup holder...lol

I think here's the perspective we don't have that I've been mulling over. How many Android users happily go about their day-to-day - including exercise and transportation - with their 5"+ phones? They've technically tested the waters for us for the past few years and the whole reason phones this size are only increasing in popularity seems to be because the size is not only manageable, but it offers a whole new life to your phones interface/display.

Those that want the 4.7 - go ahead. It'll still be kickass and guarantee you an even greater experience than it's predecessor. But at the same time, 5.5 is what Apple set to be the game changer to what we've already had, and I don't think they would have given us something too outlandish or uncomfortable to handle.

TL;DR - If in doubt about the 5.5, see how happy the masses of existing "phablet" users are.

Which body parts do you want to make feel more comfortable in the longer run? Your hands or your eyes?

If you want to keep one of your hands unoccupied or even occupied for something else there, get iPhone 6.

If you want to please your eyes more because your vision is getting weak, want a better viewing experience, or perhaps just want a sharper FHD display, OIS cam, and longer battery life, get iPhone 6 Plus.

I see no real advantages from iPhone 6 other than one-handed use and better for shallow jean pockets. Alot of iPhone users buy cases anyway which adds even more dimensions. And the iPhone 6 is cheaper.

Think for your hands/pockets - 6
Think for your eyesight - 6+

I'm already trying to convince my parents to get the 6+.

Excatly ... my main concern is my workout situation. Comfort !

What color are you going with? Thats my next decision lol, can't make up my mind lol. Firstworldofproblems

Finally decided to go with the iPhone 6 4.7. Was 50/50 since the announcement, but made the cutout and thought about everyday usage. The Plus just seems way too big for me, especially the height.

Even for my larger hands 5.5" would probably be too awkward for day to day use. I value one handed use & it was one of the reasons I moved back to Apple from Android. The ever increasing average size of Android handsets wasn't for me. 4.7" does seem a good compromise here but Android then went above this.

Ok I think I've finally gotten the first hard part of the equation figured out (I decided on the 6+).

Now I have to figure out 16 or 64gb :(

Ahh! Back to square 1.

I posted yesterday about my decision process to get a iP6+ (link)

But I don't think I can do it.

I was at Best Buy playing with a Galaxy Note 3 before news of the 6+ and I said to myself that it was too big.

The 6+ is BIGGER than the Note because it's so friggin tall. Samsung has the screen start much closer to the bottom and its still hard to reach. I wish the iP6+ dimensions were much closer to the LG G3.

These new phones have 'reachability' but my iP5 has 'pocketability'.

I'll be waiting until I can try them in person. If I decide to buy this cycle, I'll be getting a Space Gray 128GB, so I'm sure I won't have too much trouble getting one.

I had a Note 2 for a bit, and quite honestly, I'm very very happy with the size of the iP5. Phones are getting way too big.

Don't worry, today you are back to the iPhone 6... tomorrow you will be back to the iPhone 6+ ;)

I don't think so. I just read this article regarding scaling.

If I do buy now, I think staying with the same PPI will be better until apps update. Plus, I just printed it off, and the 6+ genuinely looks comically big.

The only way I'll end up with 6+ is if I somehow justify my need for more battery life. The iP6 with a Mophie would probably be just as tall as a 6+. I was really concerned about this until I replaced the battery in my iP5. I still wish it was longer, but it'll do.

Apple needs to find a way to shrink the casing ala LG G3 or Sharp Aquos Crystal.

I've often though the Moto X is just about the perfect size for a phone...its a 4.7 and is a bit shorter and skinnier than the iP6.

Interesting phone sizing comparison link. (iP6+, LG G3, Aquos Crystal, iP6, Moto X, iP5)

I'm starting to lean toward a 6+ just when I thought i had my mind set for the 6. I appreciate more of the iPad app functionality in the 6+ like the Home Screen in landscape, contact photos in the Messages app, and sidebars in some of the apps.

Easy sizing: The top of the display on the iP6 is just above the front camera on the iP5. Easy reach, no problem.

Thats easy. $100 for 48 extra gigs...no brainer. With App sizes and any amount of music, pictures or video, you'll want it.

I agree. But you already have an iPad.

That is true, but the iPad Air is too large for me to take around wherever I go.

I do think it's rather nice to have that kind of uniformity in iOS and App design across both devices.

I for one hate those stupid contact bubbles, they should not be round, they're too small and besides that I don't have pictures of any of my contacts so it would look pretty stupid.

However, I do agree that the functionality would be nice. I have a feeling that it will be a jailbreak mod eventually.

6+ is the clear winner here. It's bigger and has better specs. Why would anyone waste an upgrade on the regular 6? It's a phone for poors. 128gb 6+ FTW.

saw a girl walking down a street the other day with what looked like either an iPad mini or iPad air held up in front of her face. Yes using it. Surprised the heck out of me. Walle was so right. All she needed was a floating hover chair and shed have been happy as a pig in muck. iPhone 6 (do you want to go large on your meal) + is sort of in that direction. No way can you walk one handed and use it.

And making a phone call

iphone 6 + too large for me but if you sit a lot using it and have a handbag or man bag I could see a use.

Not for me.... famous last words haha

I'll stick with 5s and hope for a iPhone 4 frame with iPhone 5 screen. Maybe 4.7" is ok but I think they could do with trimming the bezels for a more pocket friendly edition.

Oh and I can see some men pocking fun at other men. Oh you bought the lady version hahaha

Ok well i have been constantly changing my mind from one to the other ever since the key note.
This morning I printed off one of the many templates and cut the phones out and stuck them on to cardboard. I have stuck them in and out of my pockets, placed them on the desk for size comparison and looked at a mirror with the 6+ held to my ear.
As a result I am swaying back to the 6+. It isnt as bulky as it seems and i dont do much one handed operation anyway. A guy at work has a phone with a 4.7" display and to be honest it doesnt look that much bigger than the display on my 5s so I am questioning the 4.7"
I will probably get the 6+ and if i dont get on with it, I will return it and get the 6.
Ideally, a 5" or 5.2" display on a smaller footprint than the 5.5" woiuld have been perfect but we are where we are and so its gonna be a 6+.....err I think.
I will take a look at the Note at the weekend before making a definate decision.
A lot of this is tricks of the mind. iPhone users are used to having tiny phones in comparison to the rest of the market so a 5.5" phone seems like a massive jump where users of other phones with a larger footprint, the jump wouldnt seem so bad
