I've been torn, going back and forth. Was set on 6+ this morning, but now have decided on the 6. I agree that the benefits of the OIS camera, higher resolution, and better battery life are draws for the 6+. But the compromise on comfort due to its size is the detraction. I was 50.01% leaning towards the 6+, until I read of choppy transitions & animations due to the extra pixels taxing the GPU. That did it for me. I'll get the 6..it's $100 cheaper, bigger than my 5 screen, will fit in one hand, will fit in my pocket, an upgrade from my 5 camera, and I won't look foolish holding an iPad up to my ear for calls.

If you folks are not sure which to get, why not wait for the dust to settle, read the reviews and go handle the devices in the stores?

I think pre-ordering is just a bad choice, overall. It is a gamble (though I know folks will just say that they will exchange it if they don't like it)... I guess this is why the refurb business is so robust.

Not really at the end of the day its an iPhone apple products hold value and if you are not happy with it you can easily sale the phone if supply is low many people will be happy to take off your hands.

Where did you read about the choppiness? I've heard little to nothing about the phone.

Finally decided on the 6 64GB. I run with my current 5 on an armband and the 6+ will be way too much. I already have an iPad Mini Retina and don't need the larger screen. Also will save $100.

This is where I read it.

"The 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus looks and feels much bigger, and it's harder to hold one-handed. It has a 1080p display, though sleuthing from developer Steve Troughton-Smith has already discovered that these images are actually being rendered at 2208×1242 and downscaled to 1080p. The phone uses a new “3x” graphics mode that calls for assets three times the resolution they would have been on a standard iPhone. Apple used the same method to avoid scaling problems when moving from standard displays to “Retina” displays (2x mode).

We didn’t see any visible blurriness as a result of this scaling, though some UI animations and transitions seemed to be a little choppier than they are on the iPhone 6 or our iPhone 5S—we’ll need to wait for our full review to see just how the A8 chip handles the resolution change. On-screen buttons and other elements on the 6 Plus are a little larger than they are on the 6."

"As someone who has been using Note devices for a few years, I can assure you that if you have the iPhone 6 Plus for one week, you will pick up and iPhone 5 and think it’s tiny.

Do not judge the size within 1 minute of holding it. If you have it for one week, the iPhone 6 Plus will be the new normal size.

Better battery life, better camera, better display. There is only one choice. The iPhone 6 plus."

"Note 3 user.

If someone is dead set on an iPhone, I agree. The size may seem outrageous at first, but I promise it’s not. The screen size is liberating. And the battery life alone is worth it.

Go with the 6 Plus."

"Yea, I think that’s the biggest thing to address. Many people make quick judgements based on what they believe is "normal"

But, and this is coming from Android guys, you really need to use the iPhone 6 Plus for a bit and then I promise it will feel natural.

Let’s disregard the fact that it has a better camera and display. At worst the iPhone 6 Plus has 25% better battery compared to the iPhone 6

Think about that."

These are exactly the type of comments that have solidified my decision in getting the 6+. If anyone knows what its like having such a massive increase in size for their phones, its android users. Go and pick up a 4s or lower now if you have a 5 or above and you'll find the 4s and below is just too small. It'll be the same for any predecessors to the 6+. Now I'm just battling to decide which colour...

I think it would make sense to get the 6 plus for many reasons. My only real issue is that I'm hoping to give my two-year-old son a brother and/or sister in the next year, and if I get used to the size at some point I'm going to sit down with the phone in my front pocket and that phone is going to jab my groin, effectively performing a vasectomy.

1080p screen on a 5.5inch screen is a joke to give it the leg up on the 4.7, its debatable that 1080P is needed on a 50" TV, let alone a 5.5" screen. Still I'm torn between the two but 720 to 1080 is the last thing on my mind on what one to go with as it won't make any difference.

After toiling over the printed replicas, I'm going to get the 6 (Black, 64GB). The 6+ seems unwieldy for everyday use and portability. And I have an iPad mini retina which I can't see the 6+ supplanting.

I checked out a Galaxy Note 3 and the S5. The Note really didn't seem that ridiculous in my hand. The iPhone form factor probably would be better, too.

S5 was a nice size, but I did not like that the iP6 screen would be even smaller after looking at these two models. It's clear Apple intended to position itself between these two Samsung offerings.

Side note: the Samsung OS is functionally and visually horrendous.

Why would the iPhone form factor probably be better?
Your side note is subjective.

I've owned both the Note 2 and Note 3 and thought the Note 2 was better for the simple fact that it was more rounded than square like the Note 3. I would guess that's why they meant the iPhone form factor is better. I ended up only keeping my Note 3 for a month after it released and got a Moto X, which I currently use now.

People keep posting stuff like this.

You go to the store and hold it, great. It doesn't have a case on it and you aren't carrying around all day. There is a big difference. If all you are going to do is use it at home then by all means get the bigger one. But if you are carrying it around all day the plus is going to be a burden to many. It's big and to me a brick because I'm on the go most days.

Contrast is better on the 6. The camera, out here in the real world and not a stat on a piece of paper, for 95% of people, isn't going to be any different.
Battery life will not be 25% better.......not pushing light to that 5.5" screen.
Better, maybe, 25% better I'm going to respectfully disagree.
Display? If you fire up the same video content between both you are going to be hard pressed to see the difference between the two on such small screens (compared to a monitor, tv, etc).

The only real difference I see is screen size. The other stuff is some clever marketing and product differentiation to get another $100 out of you.
I think the 6 form factor is going to be the sweet spot for portability and hopefully next all new version they can increase the size to 5", reduce bevels and give you a 5" in the same size.

I played with S5's and Notes at work this week and the S5 is the right size for a mobile phone. The Note is a brick and the plus is even longer. If you lift weights, run, bike, whatever, that brick is going to wear on you quick. It will be great surfing, watching, playing, toting it is going to suck.

I know, you want the best, top of the line, etc. This is new territory for Apple. But I think some are going to have buyers remorse after toting that plus around for a few weeks.

Good luck in your decisions.

I can't decide. I had the Note 2 at one point, and just got tired of how big it was. I just don't know if I can get use to something bigger. The features are the only thing I want the Plus for

What are the features really? Image stabelization... What else? The iPad like UI...

I'm starting to think iPhone 6 and a iPad is the best way to go, was thinking of going with the plus and passing on the new iPad and have it pull double duty but don't think using a 5.5" screen would be big enough but the thought of just one device is tempting to try and make it work... Errr

I mentioned this earlier in the thread and I agree with you. When I had my Note 2/3, exercising with them was a huge annoyance. Armbands were just ridiculous to use so I ended up just holding the phone in my hands. Luckily I didn't drop them but I've grown used to a smaller sized phone since ditching the Note 3.

I tend to favor the most technologically advanced iPhOne so 6+ it is most likely.

Who are we kidding? You 5.5" will be an excuse to get a 10" iPad instead of a mini iPad.

Yeah you don't think packing the plus around in your pocket won't get annoying after awhile? Even if it fits into your pocket it's still massive in there and us guys have something else that needs room in that area. Ohh the iPad will be the 10" no matter what iPhone I get :)

Best thing to do is get the 6 Plus, if it seems to big, eBay will be a great place to make some money off of it, sell it and get the 4.7 6.

Did the plus need more powerful hardware I wonder.

Well, I'm sure faster hardware will help, but any required scaling or sampling will always add an additional layer of needed processes. There will always be more work on the processor.
