Guys I`ve made very quick renders showing my initial ideas for possible look of new Mac Mini. If I get positive feedback maybe I could make more detailed model :)

P.S. Feel free to post critics/prepositions so I could incorporate them in detailed model.

I hope not. I do not even like the roundness of the nMP. The current design is perfect. Fix the CPU, give us iris 5000/5200, fix/update the connections, PCIe SSD please and that will do it. Along with PRICE DROP. We deserve it! And make damn sure it is still quiet and cooler.

Once again, I AM COMPLETELY AND TOTALLY RIGHT!

In no way is this meant to be a comment on your hard design work. I appreciate that. I just do not prefer round computers.

I am really not trying to be tough on you. It looks like you spent some time on the design and render work. If you want to design another super-specialized Apple product go for it. I prefer computers that look and work like computers.

The current mini is already compromised enough by not having easily accessible drive bays and by having too few ports on the back. That said the 2012 mini is a wonderful machine. It's so perfect you want to hug it!

I just got my iPhone 6. While it is going to be a huge upgrade over my traded-in iPhone 5c it reeks of Jony Ive styling bull sheet. The glass on the front folds over beautifully like beaded-up water so if it is bumped on a front corner front the thinnest glass will take the brunt of the impact. Any guesses as too the results?

Also the camera sticks awkwardly out of the back. Since the uncased phone feels too thin it is apparent that the Ive boys designed the phone too thin for the camera. Rather than making it thicker, adding AM/FM antennas or a slightly larger battery they went for Jony's obscene obsession, thinness.

Is that the kind of design thinking you want in a new mini? Not me, form follows function, period.

Guys, I agree with your valid points! I am big fan of current Mac Mini design too, but also I am trying to share with you my predictions how new Mac Mini could look if Apple decide to make radical changes.

Here is one more possible solution - same design, but glossy black finish, so it follows new Mac Pro in some way

I could live with that. Nice!

AC WIFI, upon which Apple is standardising, requires a tall, vertically-oriented antenna.

The nMP is tall, the iMac is tall, Macbooks are tall, Airport Extreme is tall.

the Mac Mini... is short.

One of these things is not like the other...

Thats not true actually. What about MacBooks? They are not tall. They have ac wifi.

If Ive has a hand in a Mini design it will be flat with rounded edges and glued and soldered.

How tall exactly?

look at Apple's products that already have AC in them the smallest is probably the iPhone 6 at 5.4 inches, then the Airport Extreme which is 6.6 inches.

On that basis, it's a form factor change, or leaving a product out of the current networking family.

antennas are generally in the screens afaik. I'd be willing to bet that WIFI speed is considerably reduced in AC Macbooks when the lid is closed

I never noticed any difference in mine when it was clamshelled.

I don't have mine anymore but that would be interesting to find out.

I think the majority of people would be happy if they left it in the present case with new guts and ports what ever that might be and maybe change the color of anodizing.

you probably wouldn't notice unless you were doing local network transfers that required enough bandwidth for it to make a difference. But it you look back to the Current Airport Extreme introduction, the entire design rationale was built around the antenna orientation.

Very nice. I wouldn't mind seeing more black Apple computers.

I'd like a mac mini without hdd and ram and be able to choose in apple store or aftermarket according to my needs. prices would be lower.

If history is any indication, Apple is pretty sentimental about anniversaries; 30 years of Mac, the 1.24.14 video, 20th anniversary mac, keynotes always mentioning product milestones...

I suspect (and am hopeful) that they're gearing up for a 10th anniversary marketing push for the new broadwell mac mini.

OOH! I love birthdays! When will the Mini be 10? My PB has its 10th birthday in December ... I never knew it had a sister!

The new Mac Mini is almost defininatly not coming.
There, that'll scare Apple, new mini will be here by the end of the month.

Because we all know they have a dedicated team of between 8 and 12 people who all they do is read and analyze this thread.

That is why I have tried to make MY posts stand out in some way so they will see it and act according to my wishes. Mind control kind of thing.

Any particular reason? I think a circular design looks quite neat, and really the Mac Mini doesn't need to be square or the current size anymore. You could argue that they could just keep it square but make it smaller, but I think circular is a good balance as you can still fit a large round fan if one is needed, either that or you get more surface area for passive cooling.

I like Vukmon's mock-up, but I'm not convinced by the black; I'd expect Apple to keep that Mac Pro specific personally.

If these were new ipad or iphone mockups they would be on the front news. Thats why we are still waiting.

Christian Today is again reporting that story about the Mac Mini will be released on November 20th.

One can only hope that if you tell a big enough lie enough times it become the truth. :D

That shape would be awkward for server racks

I have 2 Minis in my studio and they fit perfectly in a 1u 19" rack. I would be disappointed if they change the form so I can't rack mount them!
