I tried using a command in Terminal, and it works, but it's an .iso file. When I mount it, I open DVD player, the disc menu comes up, but when I go to play it, DVD player says: read error [-36]. I heard that VLC Player can read .iso files, but I have OS X 10.4; VLC runs on 10.5.

Is the dvd a commercial copyright/encrypted dvd? If so, that maybe the problem.

Yes, it is. I still want to copy it somehow. I remember on my old PowerBook G3 running OS X 10.3 I copied the Star Wars Episode 2 DVD with Toast or something similar to that. I'll try to dig that out and see if that will work.
