Apple Store employee told me when they receive a shipment corporate tells them to put it up for sale immediately or hold it for the next day. Said with pluses they usually hold it for next day. Thus standing in line when they open is best bet.

Is there any differences in using iStock vs. seaturtle?

For me, I notice iStock appears to 'cache' something locally or on their back end. For example iStock would continue to show instock for at least 1-2 minutes when both apple's website and seaturtle show them out of stock.

not able to confirm if istock show stock 'later' or 'faster' than the others, can only confirm the instock results 'linger' for longer

i have a theory. Apple trains every one of their employees to say something different (or tells them to make stuff up) to cause more confusion during the first month or so after release

But can't they move the contract to one of the new phones? I guess I'm asking if they can "lock" one of the new phones and unlock the 5S?

I think only if you ordered it on contract. If you paid full price I doubt they'll switch it. but I don't know.
I tried doing this when I bought the 5 and they said no.

But remember, the scalpers are there as soon as the mall doors open, not just before Apple Store opens. I got to both my area locations by 8am and was greeted by an Apple Store person who asked what I wanted. When I told her 6+ she told me they'd already been claimed by the folks sitting on the bench. Look over and there are just 5 old Chinese folks who bought two a piece. I asked her what time they got there so she asked them. They said 6am. The mall doors open at 6am.

So I'm gonna try 5am. Yes, I'm getting that crazy. I'm tired of waiting lol.

Did you ever have luck with signing up for a new VZ account online then just picking up in store and paying outright? thanks

Wait thats possible? So make a new line via the apple site? Go to the store and then cancel and ask to pay full price? What happens with the line? Do they run a credit check? Teach me bmms8!

No luck at local Apple store in Frisco TX. They had only couple of them. Nothing at BB and ATT store either.

Do you happen to know which ones had? Also, did you experience the same issue everyone else is with the older Chinese people at the front of the line?

Thanks we'll double check, but that's not something deliberate. The ajax call may cache requests.

We'll see how it goes with the mails. We use a superfast paying service and you should get instant notifications.

If you have a case, you can ping us @istocknowcom with the ZIP and "cache" you notice thanks.

Those elderly folks have an abundance of free time, they were probably waiting outside the mall doors since 4am. BTW, they also thank you for paying taxes so they can enjoy free welfare, food stamps, housing and an obama phone.

Haha man I'm trying to figure it out. Ive heard conflicting stuff about it and I'm not sure yet. I definitely don't want to ruin my credit or have it be a huge hassle.

You also took the gift card i was going to buy! :p

i wonder what strategy they are using to beat us in snagging the phones

They have what I call a "bot" - I use one for other limited things like Nike shoes. It will crawl the website until something is available, have all pre-sets including credit card information stored and can usually check out in seconds. If people are using them on Apple in your area, than your chances are virtually nonexistent.

Just called local store number and asked them why I can't see any stock online. Rep said that they are getting new shipments every day but they are being sold FCFS. That might be the reason why nothing is seen online. I have some work this morning but I will try to go to store before they open today and see if I can get lucky.

That's what my store is doing. They show no inventory everyday. They had no 6 plus phones yesterday which was actually fine with me bc a scalper and his parents were first in lines. It really aggrevates me that the stores are catering to the scalpers and not the people who really want to enjoy the product. It must be nice to have no responsibility and be able to line up every day at 4:30.

bmms8, I MIGHT not need it. It depends, I should know by Monday or so. If you're still interested at that time, I'll let it go for what I paid (180). Let me know!

Back on topic, still refreshing. Some stock up in NJ.

Im located in MD. :l

Got my order in at NYC 5th Ave store for Gold 64GB+

I had to choose to create a new number as it wouldn't let me port at the time.

Few questions:

What are my options now? Can I still port my number over from a previous AT&T account (I'm moving from a business account to a personal line)?

Once I get to the store can I try to purchase the AT&T model outright and use it on T-mobile?

For sure no worries thanks. Im trying to get a VZ phone this weekend, i also had the same question as you in regards to using in store, but a genius on the boards said you do need it physically in person.

There are a couple VZ options i see in the bay area but i can't get a definite answer on the contract thing :/

I can't get in touch with any stores either as they're re routing to call centers

So what are these scalpers doing? The Apple store said the other day they wouldn't sell phones not tied to a service contract (spare for the T-Mobile phones). So I don't get how the same scalpers can keep buying phones.

I'm too scared to try it. I've already got a hit on my credit report from some collection somewhere I have no idea about and I'm still investigating and I'm just worried about putting more weird dings on.

I'm just gonna try to line up on my next day off.
