Hi,
I've had Mac for about 3months now.
Been backing up successful to s WD and drive connected to my network via LAN.

setup is ...
Mac mini -> Virgin Hub -> WD nas...

backups complete really well, in good time ... even when asleep.

Yesterday i important my music from my other pc, to Mac mini. Aprox 69gb in total.

My latest TM backup is trying to make a backup of all the new music added to the mini,

prob is ... it's taking too long, that Mac is NEVER sleeping, and gets EXTREMELY hot,
when left over night, it only completes about 1GB...

so about 2 months it might take ? ...

so I've disconnected the WD from the network, an connected it straight into the Mac mini bus LAN cable.

and started backing up...

If i now, reconnect connect the NAS back to the network after its complete -
will it recognise that the backup has already been done ?
or will it try an do ANOTHER 60Gb backup :(

Let me guess you are using only CAT 5 cable going through network or trying backup from a wireless B network.

thanks for reply,
not sure about the lan cable cat 5
but everything is hard wired by lan,
the only devices wireless are the iPhones an pads.

it's seem to have sorted itself out now,
has recognised a previous backup and resumed itself :)
