Receiving a Phone Call Just as I'm closing Phone App

I recently didn't get a call on my iPhone 5s (running on ios 7). There was no missed call, etc. I know this may just be a hiccup of the Verizon network, but I was just curious, hypothetically, what would happen if the phone call came in just as I was closing the phone app. (By closing I mean shutting down the app by doubeclicking the circular button and then swiping the app up). Would the call still come through?
