John Legere is a boss on a level no other CEO has the balls to admit. Who ever said CEO's need to act special? Hes refreshing, he understands his customers and most importantly he doesn't care what a CEO is supposed to act like...he's like that cool guy at a BBQ cooking the food that tells all these cool stories and everyone loves it...:p:D

Exactly because in order for a CEO to be "refreshing" and "understands his customers" he needs to drop F-bombs every few seconds. He can still be down to earth and not a stuffed shirt without constantly cursing. If you disagree with this then I'm really beginning to see Surf Monkey's point as he suggests the youthful age levels here.

The profanity isn't necessary, but it doesn't really bug me. I'd prefer that over the jerks at AT&T

He can be down to earth without constantly swearing, or he could be uptight and constantly swearing. That aspect isn't really relevant and I don't know why people are harping on it.

Is he making valid points? Yes (IMO). Are his strategies turning T-Mobile around? Yes, without a doubt. So who cares how much he swears or doesn't swear?

Well if it doesn't bother you just let it alone dude. I stated my opinion on it.

Complete opposite here. He does just about everything he can to not be a traditional "suit" running a wireless company, and the results speak for themselves.

And it's not like this was a 60 Minutes interview.

Absolutely. I find him refreshing.

It was GeekWire, not a Congressional Hearing. ;)

Just saying.

100% truth in everything he said (except the part about bringing a Sprint phone over to T-Mobile -- can't do that yet), and delivered with refreshing candor.

If anything, Legere sees the BS that the tech press peddles and their obsession with irrelevant manufactured controversies. He also frankly puts a lot of the self-important arses in the audience in their place. He essentially told the tech press that they're full of crap, and said it with a smile and a wink.

For example, when the interviewer asked Legere about Iliad potentially taking T-Mobile over, he immediately cut the guy off and launched this classic gem.

I can tell you everything you need to know about Iliad. The owner is wealthy, he's got long hair, he made his money in porn and his wife is the heir to Louis Vuitton money. I mean, s***, what else do you need to know?

And here's his quote about Apple. Yes, it's laden with profanity, but it puts in perspective just how dumb the whole controversy is.

That is such horse****. Listen, what the f*‚ did you need to see? The video of the guy that's doing this, and if you could have seen his face he probably would have been purple and the veins are coming out of his fingers. And the thing moves a little bit? Are you ****ting me?

This is an amazing supercomputer in your hand. What the f* are you putting it in your pants and sitting on it for? Seriously. You know what, those nine people who sat on their phones, first of all, they need jeans that fit them a little better.

Let me help you about bendgate or whatever it was. It's not slowing down demand. The demand for these devices in the last few weeks is unbelievable.

Fan discounts can get the upgrade fee waived.
*some* FAN accounts can get the upgrade fees waived, not all unfortunately.

Stating the obvious here, but going to TMo I'll really have to pay full price if I want the latest phone.
In reality you're paying full price for the latest phone no matter which carrier you choose. Whether you're doing a contract subsidy or an installment plan or paying full price right up front, they're going to recoup that phone's cost somehow.

for whomever mentioned trying out TMO -- if you have an unlocked GSM phone they're easy enough to try; used to regularly have 1-cent SIMs / cheap prepaid activation kits that you could use to swap your phone over and try out the service. I did and coverage wasn't quite what it needed to be where I needed it, but I'll check again later this year.
