I don't understood your view on this. My wife's father called her at 3:00 AM once (woke up the whole house), to tell her that her mom was in the hospital due to an emergency. But don't come visit (several hours away) or call the room as she's recovering now -- just thought you'd want to know what's going on. So of course we could not fall back asleep and we were miserable the next day at work.

Now he could have called and said the exact same thing at 9:00 AM the next day and nothing would have been different. I'm not a doctor, I'm not a paramedic. If you got a problem, I don't care how you are related to me, there is little I can do for you at 3:00 in the morning. So what's the point? My phone is off every night or on do not disturb.

Similar to what I used to tell my mom when I was a teenager, if I came home late and she was upset with worry. I said, if I'm in a car crash or something, eventually the police or some authority will contact you. Its not like it will be a mystery for very long. So what's the point of worrying that something might have happened.

Jeez people. What did we do before cell phones?

What true emergency is there that can't be dealt with in the morning? If you are not a doctor, a nurse, a paramedic or a criminal lawyer, there's little anyone can do.

spoken from a childs point of view :) I used to think like that. Then you get a different perspective. Women can't help themselves. They love their babies so much :D as do fathers

the hospital thing I agree on. But then sharing the worry probably eased his.

oh to answer the question. Sometimes I charge over night, sometimes I don't.

eh I'm not glued to my phone all the damn time. The moment I reach home I'll usually just leave it on the first surface I find, and usually the only time I'll bother checking my phone when I'm at home is when I need to communicate with someone else, usually through text.

So yeah, sometimes after a shower I'm too damn lazy to go grab my phone and I'll just head straight to bed.

I charge my phone every night because I don't know what the next day is going to bring.

What if tomorrow I won't have access to a charger due to a family emergency? I want my phone to be at 100% starting the day, not at 71% at 8am and dealing with phone calls/texts because something happened

That's pretty smart. I used to charge my 5s a couple times a day. The Plus is spoiling me and I've been charging it every other day, usually at lunch when I'm on the IPad or reading a book or talking to someone. The again later when I'm cooking dinner and having dinner. I think I'm going to put the new charger on my nightstand and start charging at night again. The phone is next to me anyway because it doubles as my alarm clock.

Wow, you're life must be perfect if you're down to worrying about other people's phone charging habits.

Admittedly, I only skimmed the thread, so forgive me if I missed this but...

Am I the only one who feels that most people with battery woes aren't conokaining due to the fact that they don't charge at night? I certainly charge almost every night and there still have been days where I needed a mid day charge (though I haven't gotten my hands on the new phones for personal use).

I'm sure with most phones you'll have to charge it middle of the day maybe not the phones with extended batteries or flip phones... xD

I let mine get to around 20% most days, I don't have to charge it every night as I get good battery life regardless. I have the flexibility of charging at work too since I work in IT

There is no need to charge my iPhone 6 every night when the battery is perfectly capable of lasting one and a half to 2 days on a full charge.

Yes, but that all depends on usage doesn't it? Charging every night doesn't shorten your battery life or anything, so why not be prepared with a full battery?

I don't charge my phone Saturday night I'll admit that. I have no school but I do charge in the morning.

Really, so if you got the call at 8:30 AM that your mom-in-law died it would have made a difference? You can't fix it at 5:30. She's still dead at 8:30. I don't see the point of knowing IMMEDIATELY. Its not like you can make funeral arrangements at 5:30 in the morning. People need to chill.

The AZ police could have left a message and you get your car in the morning. What's the point of knowing RIGHT THEN AND THERE?

I don't understand the people who call people on vacation when someone dies. They'll still be dead when the person comes home, why ruin their vacation.

I know I am late to this... But it isn't all about you and your needs. What about comforting the people who were even closer to the lost loved one?

Having a cell phone is why I was able to get to my gpa at the hospital in his last lucid minutes... And was able to connect with him and tell him I love him and share all our amazing memories that we had together. That is something I will cherish forever!
