LOL! If I thought it was going to be more than a day or three I would consider it.

But in reality, The folks at Endgadget, IfixIt or any other review/teardown site can much better afford it than me

Not welded shut, but you need a strong suction cup to remove the base. I posted info on it the other day in another topic surrounding user upgrades.

Sorry there are no actual images, I don't know about the legality of posting pictures of the service manual from Apple's service site (likely NOT legal to do so).
