Well, I guess count me in for a bent 6+.

I don't carry it in my back pocket, I haven't dropped it, been in the leather case since I got it on launch day. I don't wear tight pants, when I sit down I usually take it out of my pocket.

I've got a genius appointment booked for this afternoon, they said on the phone they might be able to exchange it for a regular 6 - which is too bad, because I want the larger screen, increased battery life and better camera - but there is definitely a defective issue with this phone.

I hate to be one of these, but I simply do not believe you. I had mine in my pocket, for 9 days at an amusement park, sitting regularly and being tossed around on rides.

Mines not bent. My father with me, is not bent. There is simply no way this phone got enough pressure pushed on it, in the right location, sitting in your "non tight" pocket.

I never disagreed with that, I agree that they do deliver as many as they build. But since delivery has been flat over the last 2 weeks, just means they don't build them anymore... i.e. my hypothesis.

You have no evidence to back that statent up whatsoever. In fact the quarterly conference call flatly contradicts you since Apple reports manufacturing and selling 39 million of them, a new iPhone record. So I'd say your speculation falls squarely in the "utter nonsense" category.

Well Canadian Pyjamas, I don't really care that you don't believe me. I have no reason to lie on these boards, and my history goes far back here.

I wouldn't take it personally. It's just hard for people to believe that a phone that has been proven to bend under certain pressure (100 pounds or so) bent without any pressure at all. It requires a physical force to bend, and you are claiming you did not apply unreasonable force.

Imagine if someone's door got dented on their car and they told you it'd never been hit or dinged or anything. You'd think it odd, right?

That's how your post reads.

Uh oh. Word just got out and Apple PR just got activated. Hanky Panky is starting all over the place and threads are being closed and deleted at major web sites.

***Breaking News***

JB Weld stock has shot up over the last 2 weeks with suspected insider trading.

Sources are telling the that Apple is buying this JB Weld to reinforce Iphone 6 plus models and have already implemented the process into the Ipad Air 2.

If you check closely you will see that the weight of both devices has went up a few grams due to the JB Weld application.

My other source is telling me that this can only be confirmed if you weigh the device. Apple has not update their website.

BZZT:

JB Weld is a privately held company.

So, this post is idiocy based on a readily disproven lie.

Heh... Got my 5 replaced in an Apple Store yesterday, and a guy next to me came in with a bent 6+. He didn't buy AppleCare at first, so they had him buy it, wait 48 hours, and then he came back in with it, and they replaced it.

Well, I do take personally responsibility pretty seriously, but other than normal pressure that would occur from the phone being in my pocket of my cargo shorts, there hasn't been anything else.

That's like saying the bumper of my WRX fell off my car while driving 110KM/h, is it my fault for driving 10KM/h faster than the speed limit?

There's a big difference, there isn't any other visible damage to my phone or case, I've been an iPhone user since the 3G was available in Canada and I've never had an issue with them in my pockets.

sure but it doesn't matter. you have no way of proving that you didn't bend your phone. nobody has a way of proving that you bent it. people will default to calling your story BS. that's just how it is.

BS

No one at an Apple Store would ever do that

I imagine that is how his post reads... if you're functionally illiterate.

I find it amusing how you changed your phrasing half way through your argument too.

"bent without any pressure at all" vs. "unreasonable force"

I'm guessing that even your subconscious knows you're being intellectually dishonest.

What does the OP link have to do with the assertion that Apple may be working on a structural fix?

Dumb excuse for a thread.
Just a click magnet that all. News websites do this all the time and I hate it...just never thought I'd see it on a thread on MR...

I don't know why people don't get this, but let's go over it again:

There CANNOT be a "silent" update to the design. This is Apple, they move tens of millions of units, and it's going to take a maximum of one week after this supposed "silent" change for the whole thing to go fully public and turn into the worst PR disaster the company's ever seen.

The media will lose it, people will start class-action suits, and everyone who already owns a unit will be at the Apple store demanding a replacement with a "fixed" unit. This will never, ever happen.

If we're saying that some units are coming bent from the factory.. that will get resolved, as it's simply a manufacturing tolerance issue and Apple will already replace a device that comes damaged from the factory (though considering the publicity around all this you might have to open it in-store for them to believe you).

This.

You admit your wrong and you open yourself up to a ****storm.

So you're saying that the quarterly conference contradicts my hypothesis? Ok, would you mind pointing me to the Apple statement about the number of iPhone 6 plus manufactured?

Also, you're saying that Apple reports having manufactured 39 millions iPhones, could you point me to that? all I can see is a report of them selling that many.

... and there you go, you did it again monkey... misquotes, switching words, etc...

___

oh and btw, after weeks of asking, I am still waiting for you to document me "going on and on, for weeks" about a class action lawsuit

There can be stresses left in the structure of improperly treated metals that cause them to self deform over time. I seriously doubt that's happening here, but it's not impossible. I'd guess what really happening is that there is a weak spot in the plus that got missed in testing because you have to hit it just exactly right for it to make itself known. Probably it's all figured out now and a fix instituted and certainly by the s iteration of these things it will be a very strong phone.

Even the best material scientists on earth (rocket scientists) miss these little things all the time. That's why the occasional rocket... has "issues." I don't blame Apple for making a weak phone accidentally, I blame them for not acknowledging the problem and instead sicking their PR machine on us.

sorry to hear about your phone

mine bent after 2 weeks of owning it, and I have kept it so far. no further bent to report at the moment, but I will definitely exchange it if Apple improves its manufacturing/QA process for the 6+

Hopefully Apple will ultimately just offer to exchange anyone's bent phone on the spot with the stronger units. They will then have a nice supply of refurbs to sell off at a slightly reduced price. I doubt it would affect their bottom line much and would probably be a lot cheaper that all of the inevitable ill will and class action suits that are already being generated. Instead they would gain tons of good will that would probably be worth a lot more to the company over time compared to a small initial loss now.

So you're saying that the quarterly conference contradicts my hypothesis?

I'm saying that there is no evidence to support your hypothesis. None. You're engaged in wild speculation that you're expecting people to take seriously and throwing insults at them if they don't accept it at face value.

As far as the 39 million goes, if they've sold that many it follows that they've manufactured that many as well. In the conference they said that they're selling them as quickly as they can build them. They aren't breaking out 6 vs 6 Plus sales figures at this time but will do so once demand levels off.

Ditto for me, but I've only had my 6+ since friday and immediately placed it in a UAG case. Noticed when I would put the phone screen down on a table/flat surface, the phone would wobble at the top corner. Took it out of the case and the same wobble. I wouldn't mind a replacement (just for peace of mind) but I'm assuming that there won't be any stock left at any of the stores nearby. I'm just going to hold out for now, it doesn't take away from how the phone works really but I do agree, there is an issue with the phones casing.

I'm saying that there is no evidence to support your hypothesis.

No, you did say that the conference contradicted my hypthesis:
the quarterly conference call flatly contradicts you

Now you also say this:
throwing insults at them
please quote me, when did I insult people?

They aren't breaking out 6 vs 6 Plus sales
So, as a reminder, my hypothesis is that supply of 6+ has lowered significantly over the past couple of weeks; your stated that the conference "flatly" contradicted this; and in the same post you are now saying that they didn't give 6+ numbers? wow... at least you could try being consistent within the same post

____

oh and btw, after weeks of asking, I am still waiting for you to document me "going on and on, for weeks" about a class action lawsuit

so, what happened to this? You've been ignoring that question for probably 20+ times now, you could only gain in credibility by admitting you were wrong on that one...
