That is not what I have ever gotten. I have an ISO of Windows x64 Ultimate straight from the MSDN and I burn it to a dvd and it boots right up every time. I have been running Windows 7 x64 since the RTM leaked years ago.

this is very interesting! I got mine from the Volume Licensing Service Center and it never worked. after googling around I found the how-tos I posted and they lead to success.

BTW: we are pretty much off-topic...

Hennesie2000,

I will not used the computer for gaming, the main activity will be 3D Applications, Video Production, After Effects, Video Transcoding and Graphic Design. So at this point while running OS X Yosemite, CUDA performance, Open GL/CL, will be critical. I will greatly appreciate any comment or recommendation before I make the purchase. Please take a look at these options:

P.D. The power supply on the Mac Pro 1,1 is 980w.

Thanks.

Doesn't matter what the power supply is in the Mac Pro. It is setup to supply a max TDP of 225W. 75W from each 6pin cable and 75W from the PCI-e connection.

I have a DVD with Win 7 x64 SP1 included (retail, not DVD-R!) and it is not booting on MacPro2,1. after seeing your video I downloaded "7600.16385.090713-1255_x64fre_client_en-us_Retail_Ultimate-GRMCULXFRER_EN_DVD.iso" and this indeed works

I'm having some problems running Mavericks and Yosemite on my Mac Pro 1,1. With the evga 650 it won't always see the login screen. This happens about 75% of the time for both Mavericks and Yosemiti. I expect to not see the boot screen, however not seeing a login screen pretty much makes the computer unusable.

For Yosemite, I used SFOTT (http://oemden.com/?page_id=531) to get it installed. I would like to upgrade to the mac edition gtx 680 (http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-D.../dp/B00C88RHUS), just because having a boot screen would be nice and the used price on eBay is within my reach. I'm also sick of having to reboot the machine constantly. I'm wondering if this card would work with my aging Mac Pro. Any help is appreciated keeping this ancient machine running. Thank you!

Anyone having audio issues? I have Yosemite running well now but I have no audio at all. Thoughts?

I didn't have audio either. I had to go into the audio settings in preferences and click on which output I wanted and then it showed up. Not sure if your circumstance is the same though.

Good luck. Does any audio hardware show up in system profiler?

Okay...I feel like a complete fool. I had headphones in...hopefully this foolishness got someone to laugh at least.

Sorry for the trouble and thanks for trying.

Now why "Elements Organizer 10.0" is listed as a device in system profiler I have no clue :)

No trouble. I'm happy you got it working. I'm not sure what mine was set on but it could have been headphones too.

Success finally - use USB ext drive not esata.

Thanks to the wonderfully smart people who made it possible for me to get Yosemite on my 1.1/2.1 Mac Pro.

Those damn italic used quotes caused me some grief even after using copy and paste.

However my biggest problem came because I used an external hard drive for the installer thinking it would save lots of time in the various disk based operatins. It did that but the installer disk would not boot. Then I remembered it was an esata drive. Switched it to USB and Robert is your father's brother.

Thanks again guys.

Phone Feature?

Has anyone had any success in getting the phone (using iPhone) feature to work? It's interesting in that I can make and receive calls on my Mac Pro 1,1, but the microphone on my Logitech camera won't pick up my voice (although I can hear the caller just fine, they can't hear me). The microphone in the camera works in every other application, and works perfectly for dictation, which I use all the time.

Strange...

Success

Thanks to all in this thread. I have 10.10 working on mac pro 1,1. No problems installing following Hennesie2000's excellent guide.

I did have to power down and startup to get my third monitor powered by a Nvidia GT610 to work. I am using a flashed ATI 5770 as main card.

The only issue I have is that on the main monitor (5770) Safari flickers terribly. Dragging to the 610 screen it stops. It seems to be anything powered by webkit as iBooks does the same on the 5770, some sort of refresh issue. It could be that one monitor refreshes at 60mhz and the other at 75

Any body else have this issue? Any known tweaks?
