Where is the best place to trade in my IPad Air? Best Buy will give $301 on trade-in. Have it on craigslist for $375 but can't even get a bite. It is a 32GB Wi-Fi.

not going to get one when you can get a new one for 100 bucks more for a Air 2 or pay 50 bucks more for a new ipad Air period. I think 325 is probably what yours is worth. IF that

I think you'll have a tough time at $375 since Microcenter is selling "New" 32GB Airs for $399. Someone could always come along though....it only takes one person! If Best Buy will give you $300...I'd say jump on it!

I have a quote from Amazon trade In for a flawless (like new, box, cables) 128GB LTE model for $433
On top of that it has a year of Applecare that I can cancel once sold and get a prorrated refund on the unused period (around $40 Net). So that is $477 and risk free (and Amazon pays for shipping)

The $433 are in Amazon credit, but I buy a lot from them, so it works out.

On a WiFi 32GB they quote $330 for black and a few extra bucks for white if flawless. In good condition about $300

Don't forget, in addition to that $300, you get a $50 coupon for use towards an iPad Air 2. So, if you're in the market for an Air 2, you're actually getting $350.

Is this true? I thought you only received the $50 coupon if your iPad's trade-in value was less than $200.

Yes, check the fine print.

  • Guaranteed minimum of $200 toward the new iPad Air 2 with trade in of iPad 2nd generation or newer.
  • Payment is by Best Buy gift card.
  • Upon trade in of a qualified tablet, a trade-in coupon for $25 toward a new iPad mini 3 or $50 toward a new iPad Air 2 will print with the trade in receipt.

Be careful with Amazon on electronic trades. It's not Amazon so much as the company they use for trade ins. I had a bad experience with them and swore never to deal with them again on trade in. Long story short: I traded in a flawless 1st Gen Kindle Fire tablet, it had the box, the wrapper and I even cleaned it. I was expecting "like new". They rejected the tablet, threw away the original box and cellophane wrapper, tossed my tablet with the charger in a box with no padding and sent it back.

Needless to say I was pissed.

Right, but I'm pretty sure a "qualified tablet" means an iPad with a trade-in value of < $200. People on other forums are reporting a lack of success receiving a coupon after trading in 4th-gen iPads and iPad Airs.

You get Best Buy gift card with the trade-in of your tablet, PLUS if you buy and Ipad Air 2 you get an additional $50 gift card, but that has to be used for purchasing the Ipad Air 2.

Example:
Trade in for Ipad Air 2 $301
If you trade it in and buy an Ipad Air 2 you would get $351

Can you confirm this? Did you actually trade-in your original iPad Air at Best Buy? Sorry to be so skeptical... I just want to make sure I'm getting the best deal.

I am going to trade it in tomorrow. I will post my results. I will be bringing in the ad when I trade it in so there is no confusion with the employees.

Thanks. Keep us updated. :)

Yes please do keep us posted. My wife has the iPad Air 32GB too. I might just head down to Best Buy tomorrow in Atlanta and see if I can get the same deal (ie $300 + 50) and trade her up to the new Air 2 64GB.

I know someone that got $287 for an iPad 4 + the $50 coupon. Some people aren't getting the coupon because of rogue (read: idiot, harda$$) Best Buy managers. Knowledgeable managers know what the actual deal is. Qualifying tablets are simply non-1st gen iPads that are in good enough condition to trade in. The fixed dollar coupons wouldn't make sense bc then a person with an iPad worth $199 would get a $50 coupon but one worth $201 wouldn't??? That doesn't make sense.

That really sucks. Hopefully, you complained enough to Amazon customer service that they made things right for you.

So any iPad from the 2 and up you get $200 +$50 gift card? It makes more sense to trade in the 2 and get $250 than my 16GB Air and get only $300.

My past experience was the contrary. I was credited right away when I sold them like new iPhones at the agreed offered price.

As a precaution, I take photos of what I send them and the condition. The one thing is Amazon usually makes any issue right.

I have an offer from Gazelle - but it is $80 less for the same item. Also good experience with Gazelle, they pay via Paypal vs Amazon credit, but almost 20% less.

Not necessarily... it depends on the trade-in value of your particular iPad model. You may want to check here: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/electro...in/pcmcat133600050011.c?id=pcmcat133600050011

What I'm waiting to hear is whether or not you still receive the $50 coupon if your trade-in value is $200 or greater.

I checked before posting. iPad Air Wifi 16GB has a trade in value of $250. So if you don't receive the $50 coupon I will get the same for trading in an iPad 2 as I would for the Air. With the coupon only $50 more.

I just traded in my Ipad Air 1 32GB at Best Buy and got $301 Best Buy gift card + a $50 printed coupon on the purchase of a new Ipad Air 2. Total $351.00 Whoo hooo!!!!

Awesome! Thanks for letting us know.

The coupon is valid from 10/17/2014 - 11/15/2014. Also, the coupon says for "in store use only. The Best Buy employee said you could still purchase online, bring the coupon into the store and they would give you a credit. I would make sure that you call and get confirmation from the store Manager before doing this.
