I've had the iMac Retina 5k for around 3 days now, so I have a very limited perspective on it's performance compared to other computers I've had for years; however, this is something I would like to hear from you guys...

Is anyone noticing lag with scaled resolution?

For context, I got
4.0ghz Intel i7
M295X (4 Gb)
512 SSD
16gb RAM

From my quick personal tests, I've seen some performance slowing when using the 3200x1800 scaled option in programs like Photoshop CS6 and Adobe Premiere CS6. Playback of simple 1080p clips in premiere is noticeably slower when using scaled 3200x1800 resolution compared to the "Best for Display" 2560x1440 resolution.

Does anyone have any other experience with anything of this sort? I know there is a lot of pressure for the M295X to perform, and while I trust in it, I feel cautious. What do you guys who own the riMac see?

I don't have one yet, but would you mind taking screenshots at the two Larger Text resolutions and then posting the dimensions of the images produced?

I'm interested in whether either of them will be the native 2560x1440 on account of them being 1706x960 (3x) or 1280x720 (4x) points.

If you have it in Best mode how does something like Mission Control perform on the m295x? Is there any UI lag with it or like when opening a tab in Safari? I have the m290x and have lag when going to Mission Control

I've taken desktop screenshots of each Scaled Resolution. See this folder:

https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B3D0WRaVIFp3WEFUMmtfbWs4eU0&usp=sharing

Some things to note: The screenshots come out at twice their "Looks Like" size because the resolution(ppi) is at 144, not the old standard of 72. So the 'Most Space' 3200x1800 option results in a screenshot that is 6400x3600.

As to your question, the two "Larger Text" options are Larger Text at 4093x2304, and Largest Text at 3200x1800 both at 144ppi.

So far no lag whatsoever with mission control or launch pad. I can frantically switch between apps without lag and the animation is unaffected. I don't know if this is solely because of the better m295x or if the 4.0ghz processor, ssd, or RAM come into play, or my relatively small amount of files on my computer to go through.
