This frustrated the heck out of me on the iPad 4, to *some* degree on iPad Air, and I'm sorry to report it's a slightly bigger issue on iPad Air 2 (due to its higher native contrast).
As before, it manifests itself as screen dimming during dark movie scenes, and brightening during dark scenes.
Why Apple feels the need to do this on the iPad Air 2 I do not know, but it's quite distracting if you're sensitive to such things.
Here was the original thread on iPad 4 (don't reply to it, please!), to give you an idea of what's happening. Yes, the iPad 4 issue is MUCH worse, but it's still there on iPad Air 2. Boo!
