I'm a 5s user that is still running on 7.1 and is a little nervous about updating my phone. How is 8.1 on the 5s? Please tell me your experiences...

Works fine on my 5s. Lagging was pretty much gone by 8.0.2, and 8.1 seems to have solved the Bluetooth issues. Occasional crashes from apps that had always given me problems. Otherwise, none of the random reboots that I had with iOS 7.0 to 7.0.3. On my phone, the performance and stability are at least on par with 7.1.2.

I generally prefer to do the updates using iTunes, and I also restore my phone to factory settings prior to any major interval updates (8.1 would be one of them). If everything checks out, then I restore my apps, settings, and data from a local backup using iTunes.

8.1 is still a bit spotty on my 5S. I see dropped frames here and there (settings mostly). The actual hardcore bugs from 8.0 are mostly gone but I see some artifacts here and there. Overall worse performance than 7.1.2 for though for sure. Not even a moderate amount of difference, but slight.*

*I'm picky, so I notice these things.

Works fine for me on my 5s,had problems with 8.0 but all seems good now I have 8.1 on it (about 4 days ago).
No problems with my ipad 3 either with 8.1 so much smoother than 8.0.

Running it on a 5C it's like butter! A big stick of butter!! :)

You'll be fine.

Try resetting all settings and a hard reset for the 5s not cooperating. Then setup the phone's settings like you normally do. Hope this helps.

Generally works totally fine. A couple of very minor interface response bugs, but really it's not an issue. Full steam ahead.
