I'm have been a Verizon customer for a few years. I have been helping people keep their UDP and still use their subsidized upgrades since Verizon first stopped us from doing that in June of 2012. When he switches to the 1000 texts he makes it effective as of the day of the switch so that the 1500 previous texts don't cause any overages.
