Duplicate Files being created

Hey all, new to Mac's. Bought my first MB Pro 15" . Ive noticed, that when i copy video files from my NAS (originated from PC) to my USB thumb drive, it creates duplicate files that are shaded. As if thy were "hidden" files. Anyone know anything about this? Im running Yosemeti by the way.
