Now why can't they do this here? While I personally think NY would be a good fit, you have KY, CA, TX and many states willing to facilitate a project like this.

Because we don't have any disposable slaves here to do the work for pennies a week and no benefits. That's why. The obnoxious shareholders would never have it. Good jobs for Americans? That's soooooo 1950.

Those "slave" have probably the best pay they can get for people with little education in all of China (most come from the countryside were extreme poverty reigns). Why don't you ask them what they think of working for Apple compared to their previous jobs instead of projecting your own feelings onto them. But, do you really care about them or are just using them like a talking point?

There is a reason those jobs are so sought after and its not because people down there enjoy "slavery", they are decent jobs for them.

Have fun paying more for your iPhone just because it has a "made in America" sticker. No thanks. I'll stick to my Chinese made one. They're expensive enough as it is.

Made in USA vs Made in Taiwan... I would pick Made in Taiwan especially when it comes to computer related parts.

Yeah - the classic "but they are better off than they would be bleh blah". When you take extremely hopeless, destitute people and throw them barely anything it appears you are really "putting yourself" out there for their benefit.

Reality says you are exploiting miserable people which is exactly what this is. In fairness its not just Apple doing it but its pretty sad nonethless. All because never-happy shareholders just cant be satisfied with great returns, they have to have super-great returns. Whatever.

A good analogy to "making these peoples lives better" would be this: Take a guy that has Stage 6 pancreatic cancer and instead give him Stage 5 pancreatic cancer. Sure, you just "improved" his situation and thats great but hes still going to die a slow, miserable death.

So, having no job and no money... The alternative, is better... Better for the workers here, maybe, if people were ready to pay 50% more for their product, but not better for them.

Having Apple set up a place were they"re working conditions is a huge step up is how they eventually make enough to have a very comfortable life. That's how China has gone from poverty to relative affluence in 30 years.

Apple workers have some of the highest wages in all China for factory work. Are you as worried about all the millions who don't work in Apple factories and get their ass kicked for 20% of that "slave" wage with way worse working conditions?

These people are not dying, or slaves, or even badly paid. Comparing these jobs just shows you can't really be argued with; the comparison is preposterous.

They live in the factories while the rest of the family is on the farm and they send money back to their family. People in the west until the post war era had a way worse time in factories than those guys and nobody called them slaves.

BTW, you are the definition of condescending. They people have free will and they don't need you to "save" them.
