i'm using Spin Doctor and Griffin's iMic, running the turntable thru an amp first, out through the tape outputs (i tried the turntable direct into the line input but the signal was too weak and doing simultaneuos playback for monitoring seemed to overwhelm it).
I had tried previously without the iMic, straight into the mic jack but, depending on which amp outputs i used (tape and vcr) the signal was either too strong or too weak.
I don't use any of the filters on SpinDoctor because they seem to remove more than i like and in any case i quite like the warm crackly feeling..). The auto-tracking seems to work pretty well, as does the auto-send to iTunes (altho it could do with more options for sending tag info than just artist and album)
anyone else tried other, not too pricey (mac) software for this job?
