I found a cheap charging dock on Ebay for the iPhone 5/5S/5C. But the description says that it is "not compatible with iOS 7 or higher".

How can an accessory work with the iPhone 5S but only with certain versions of iOS? How could iOS 7/8 tell what kind of charger the 5S is plugged into?

iOS 7 introduced a 'feature' where a popup will display if the cable/charger/dock isn't part of the MFI programme.

It'll probably still charge just fine, but they're probably putting that there to stop customer complaints when the message pops up.
