So I recently acquired a maxed out late 2013 27 iMac with the 4 gig gfx card and it has been great to say the least. The one thing I noticed was the screen is really bright. I went to turn the brightness down yesterday to discover it was only 5 clicks from the lowest setting. This screen is just balls to the walls bright.

Yes the monitor is extremely bright, I have mine set to about 30%, any brighter and my retina's will go on strike...

I run mine at 4-bars in a very brightly lit (big windows) room ... thats about 1/4 of full brightness (16 bars). They are way too bright at maximum!

I sometimes wonder if the posts complaining about light bleed and image retention have the iMacs still at MAX brightness.

The 5k is very bright too. I have mine at around a third of the way up the slider from the bottom.
