Retina iMac Start Up Sound ???

From the start, every time I turned on my iMac there would be a start up sound/gong. As of yesterday, I noticed that it no longer makes that sound.

Is there an option to disable that sound that I may have enabled, etc. Because I remember reading that the sound was impossible to remove/turn off.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

There is a nice app that lets you change many options within OS X that are not visible via the system preferences, one of those is the startup sound: http://www.maintain.se/cocktail/
