I was checking craigslist and saw people selling either phone cheap. I'd like to own either one. Which one would you pick and why? I got to play with both of them in the store a while ago but I'm looking for opinions from long term users of either phone. I have a 6+ and an S5 I just want to own either of the two.

Battery and Camera are better on the G3...however, according to most phone reviewers sites, they rank the M8 as the best phone in 2014. Since you already have a 5.5" phone, try the M8 (5").

Here's my opinion:

M8

Pros:
Superb build quality, can be converted to GPE if it is GSM, great speakers.

Cons:
Like what others say the camera is average, phone is tall because of the black bezel w/ HTC logo.

G3

Pros:
Bigger ram if you get the 32GB version, 4k display, removable battery, better camera, bigger screen

Cons:
Build quality is below the M8, area near power button gets hot when watching HD videos for longer periods, battery life is not that good

M8 all the way. It's the best smaller size smartphone of 2014.

Plus can easily be converted to GPE.

I didn't realize that the M8 also has an SD card slot, which is a plus. The G3 on the otherhand has a nicer and almost bezel free screen. This is a tough choice.

I guess I'll email both sellers and see who gives me a better deal.

I'd go for the G3, much better camera and swappable battery are nice. The thin bezel makes it smaller than other comparable 5.5" phones.

Just an update guys, I decided to buy the G3. The phone is about a month old and it looks great. I rooted, installed Bump! TWRP recovery, and now running Liquid Smooth 5.0.1 Lollipop. The screen looks fantastic after color calibration, whites and blacks look great now. The only downside is I got the AT&T version and Qi wireless charging is not available only PMA. Thanks for the opinions.

The huge bezels of the M8 just don't do it for me. I would personally go for the G3 for the larger screen real estate in a tight form factor as well as the awesome camera and screen. Although I am not a fan of either launcher implementation, the scrolling down of the app drawer for the M8 just doesn't do it for me. Of course, it's easy to change.
