Where do they come from? Not even a dodgy site... They hold your browser to ransom till you pay them money. Obviously a 'force close', does the trick, but you do get a spinning wheel for a few more minutes on other sites, so wonder if it does anything to Macs? Presume it doesn't leave anything on the computer after unless its a Windows computer?

No idea if it's actually a virus but if it's is it won't be a Mac virus as there is no such thing.

Ona Mac, if such a thing exists, it might be some Malware that you downloaded and installed, and generally that WOULD be from a "dodgy" site.

Were you to somehow download a Windows virus onto a Mac, it would do nothing at all.
