Hi guys,

I'm having a problem connecting my MBA to my new monitor. I'm not sure whether there's something with wrong with the third party adaptors, the monitor or my MBA itself.

Here are my items

MBA 2014 / Mavericks
Samsung LS22D360HS 21.5” Full HD Monitor (Mac OS Compatible)
third party HDMI cable
third party Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter

My monitor remains in black screen and the MBA screen only flickers each time I connect the Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter.

I've been looking for similar issues online to no avail.

I don't know if what to do next, I don't want to think there's something wrong with my newly bought monitor. And I don't want to buy the recommended adaptors by Apple unless I have no other options left.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Try connecting the MacBook to your TV and see if that works. If it does, sounds like something is wrong with your monitor.
