iPad 2 won't go to sleep mode and no unlock/lock feature.

I have an iPad 2. The power button will not lock the screen, but it will power down. I was told that the unlock setting in the general tab would fix that. But after my software update I don't have that feature. What could be causing the issue?

Hi, im experiencing the same problem with my ipad 3, My button works perfectly for Turn On/OFF the ipad, but i cant lock the screen with it, i always have to wait 2 minutes until the screen blocks for itself ( configurated for 2 min)
