Hi there,

I need some expertise from you guys!

I have a Mac Book Pro 15" medio 2014. I want to use my iMac 27" medio 2010 as an external display when I create music in Logic.

I've connected via
Thunderbolt Mbook to mini display port iMac.
HDMI Mbook to mini display port iMac.

When I go to System preferences/ Monitor (display) there is no options available. When i connect a regular monitor the option is there.

What do I do wrong? Or is it even possible.

Thanks,

Dr. HaNzN

What Dave failed to point out is on Apple's own website has additional, but key, details - from your OP, you do not have the correct cable. You need a Mini DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort cable for your intended connection.

See this: http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT3924

FWIW, I was wondering this just last night for my own reasons and bookmarked it! I have found that DP cables work great when TB cables don't.
