I have member status now but I can't start new threads here. is there something I'm missing?

edit: nevermind, took the time to read through and it looks like waiting a while should do the trick. any chance of being able to nuke our own dumb posts?

I think you summed up what makes macrumors enjoyable for me in a very succinct statement. The people here have been extremely supportive to me when I have needed help.

I have never sold or bought anything in the forums here; however, when the forum rules changed, I increased my participation to reach the 100 post level.

I have a question. If somebody joins MR and pays to become a demi-god(ess) and don't have 100 posts, can they create threads in the marketpalce?

probably not but I don't know, I know for instance you still need 500 posts to get an avatar even with a membership

No, not under the current rules. And they don't automatically get an avatar either. This prevents people from buying privileges that others are expected to earn.

The main benefit of paid membership is in supporting the site. The other benefits (an ad-free front page and access to a private forum) are small thank-yous, and do not include other forum posting privileges.

Can I make the comment that if you are going to search for marketplace threads, PLEASE note the date? It seems as if a lot of people (cough newbs) have been digging up old threads making offers for items that have been gone for more than a year!

You can suggest it....and that's about all you can do. All you have to hope now is that these "newbs" come and find, read and understand your post before they go off bringing back threads from the dead.

I know this is a longshot, but why not shut off the forum to everybody under 100 posts? Ya know, so they can get accustomed to the rules of the site before they post in the Marketplace, and so we can make sure that they are committed to the site?
