If you have a Macbook, unfortunately you will not be able to run Yosemite, as only MacBooks from late 2008 will run it. However, the 15inch Macbook Pro mid 2007 will run it. Hope this helps

Unfortunately you cannot purchase 1.7 Lion from the Mac App Store anymore, the only version of OS X on there is Yosemite.

However, if you go to the Apple online store, you can purchase a disk from there. Where I live in the UK it is £14.99, prices will vary according to where you live.

I realize this isn't the question, but I am running Yosemite on my late 2008 unibody macbook... and the only feature I don't seem to have is airplay mirroring.

What else is missing?

Just as many others above had said, This machine wont run Yosemite natively out of the box. Apple has sadly abandoned these machines. I personally use a Macbook 3,1 Late 2007 white for school and even to type this up here.

Although i am running snow leopard i still have the latest Firefox updates, skype, flash etc. It still runs fine. I did have Lion running for a month before i gave up on it. I hated Lion. Apple did not put a lot of effort to get these older machines to stay alive.. Lion constantly pushed the little Intel X3100 with its animations. Lion was just a boat anchor in my opinion on this system. The temperature was constantly in 50-60 Celsius which is higher then snow leopard as right now i have word open for class and this page and im at 47 Degrees.

These machines will work amazing with Snow leopard and windows 7 on bootcamp. However if you are comfortable tinkering with mac systems you could get mountain lion 10.8.4 running. All you need is for someone to give you the app, you need to be running lion and you need something called MLPostFactor.Personally i did do this and Mountain Lion Ran exceptionally well. Im giving credit to wayne because the system RAN a lot faster and cooler then Lion. Its a little bit of a hassle to trick the system into running it but once you get it everything runs great! The only reason i downgraded back to 10.6.8 was because the Wifi driver wasnt complete. It worked at home but for school where i needed Enterprise connection it failed.

These machines are amazing and Im disapointed that apple pulled the plug on hardware that is MORE then capable of running the latest. Good luck!

Just a small point - Purchasing Lion at the on-line store does not get you a disk.
Apple will email a redemption code that you can use with the App Store to download the Lion installer.

I just got the email with codes to load Lion last week. It was easy to install.
