I want to add a Hard Drive to my 2008 iMac in the Optical drive bay area. Where can i buy one? I can't find one for my model. Do I have any choices for my model ? Any help is much appreciated.

You can put a standard laptop sized SATA drive in there. But you must first put it into a Optibay caddy. The model you want is the model designed for the 2006-2008 Macbook.

iMacs are a pain to get into. Why not just buy a firewire external drive. If your iMac has FW 800, should be pretty speedy.

I ended up finding one listed for my model on fixit.com. Are you sure that my 2008 21 inch 2.4 iMac can take an optical bay kit design for 2008 MacBook?

Really never thought about getting one but it's not a bad Idea. Can my iMac use FW800?

Yes, I am very sure your iMac can use a optical drive caddy for a 2008 non-unibody Macbook. Yes, you iMac has FireWire 800.
