I got a new external hard drive and ran the first backup.. I have currently used 80GB of my hard drive but the first backup only is at 61.. Is something wrong?

There are some files that don't need to be backed up. Like the pagefile and the hibernation image file. How much RAM do you have? The more RAM you have, the bigger those files will be.
