I recently bought an external SSD (iMac internal HDD is dog slow) and moved all my files to it with Carbon Copy Cloner, except for the photo's, video's and downloads folders from every user, because they where too big to fit on the SSD. For some reason unknown to me, the copy of OS X on my external SSD knows that the above mentioned folders reside on my internal HDD, instead of on the external SSD. So in every user account the folders link correctly to the internal HDD. Even Time-Capsule correctly backups everything.

Any idea how this could work without any settings or so that have to be modified? It really 'just' works, and I am really eager to know how or why.

Thanks in advance!
