I'm selling the first generation iPad Mini as it was becoming slow and obsolete and I wanted to upgrade. I enjoy the Mini series and I wanted to get another opinion on the next iPad Mini I should buy, the Mini 2 or 3.

I know they have the same A7 chip but is there performance differences in the 2?

Over at the iPad forum there is a long thread.

My wife has mini1 ios6, I have mini2 (retina) ios7.

Difference between mini2 and mini3 is the touchID on mini3.

Rest of components are the same.
Also mini2 hardware = air1 hardware

-----------------

For my use mini is the right size.
At my previous job I used ipad2, new iPad, iPad 4, and original mini.

-----------------
Recently I was using air1 on ios8 (to compare speed) before I upgrade my iOS and the air1 felt so big and bulky...

I have not used air2 at all.

-----------------

I am very happy with performance of my mini(r) on iOS7.
Will stay with that for as long as I can.

Thanks for the info. I think I'm going to go with mini 2 because Touch ID on an iPad is not that important for me

Other than Touch ID and a gold color option on the iPad Mini 3 they're exactly the same. If Touch ID is not a concern, go with the iPad Mini 2 and save some money.

That's what I'm probly going to do. Plus I wouldn't get it in gold anyway lol. Space gray all the way

Its all about the storage size (unless you need the Touch ID) -
16GB \ 32GB > Mini 2
64GB \ 128GB > Mini 3

I've always gone with 16GB with new Apple products. Unless I can find a deal on Amazon/eBay then I'm gonna go 16GB
