Hello to you all!

For a while now, I'm having constantly kernel panics with my MacPro 5,1.

First time I recall it happened was when I was using After Effects, opened Element3D setup screen, bam, restarted. Now just using the computer, using QuickLook with a jpeg, restarts.

My configuration:

MacPro 5,1
2x2.4GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
40 GB 1066 MHz DDR3
8 TB RAID (2x 4 TB HGST)
Velocity Solo x2 with a Samsung 840 EVO 500 GB
MacVidCards GeForce 780GTX 3 GB flashed

OSX 10.9.5
NVIVIA Web Driver: 334.01.03f02
CUDA driver: 7.0.29

The issue also happened with the previous drivers, but I updated both Nvidia and Cuda recently, in hope of resolving the issue, but no success. I also tried reseting the NVRAM, also nothing.

I had to put my ATI 5770 back, I'm not having any kernel panics for now, but I need the 780 back, my productivity needs it.

Thanks in advance!

Marcos

I was using the Apple Driver at the moment, but with the Nvidia driver also happens the panics.

I use thumb drives and hard drives in NTFS, use Paragon drivers to make them work. But the panics also happen with no drives attached.

This panic happened when I hit space in a jpeg to open QuickLook. Some jpegs I can open in QuickLook with no problems. Others I can't, don't know why.

Only in Windows? I don't have any Windows partition, but if needed I can try to create one and install Windows.

In OSX would be better.

Or do you have a COMPLETEY separate OS X install?

Point being to isolate bad software or conflicts in your current install.

If it crashes in Windows too then card would be bad. If it didn't crash in Windows then you have bad driver or conflict in OS X.

I have another drive, I'll do a fresh install of Mavericks. It's faster and easier for me at the moment than a Windows partition.

When I finish it I'll post here the results.

Thanks again!

Ok, just did a fresh install of Mavericks 10.9.5 on another drive.

Tried using QuickLook with the jpeg from the other time, no problems for now.

I'll do all the softwares updates now, install CUDA and Nvidia drivers and test it again.

EDIT:

After making all updates and installing CUDA and Nvidia drivers, when I hit space to open QuickLook, instead of previewing the jpeg, it gives me "An error occurred with the preview of this document". It doesn't panic or restart, it shows a thumb image and infos of the file, not image in the whole screen.

I tried previewing some folders and .mp4, no problems.

EDIT 2:

Switched to the Apple Driver, the QuickLook preview works again. For now no problems.

I'll install the Adobe Suite later and test it again.
