My imac started sppolimg, so I turned it off, and each time it was turned on it has never gotten past the long spooling stage. The apple logo appears, and a long bar, which then fills slowly from ledt to right. After the gray bar fiils, the mac shuts down again! I was able to get to the disk utility (thank you macforums) but it doesnt seem to be repairing. The drive I'm trying to repair is 1TB wdc 1001fals-4ou9b9 media. I sent away for snow leopard osx install discs, because all we have is an old imac os9 install cd. Is there anything that I can do to bring this all back up? I dont have a time machine backup, my daughter too it to back up her mac and we didnt replace it :mad: am I on the right track? Is it terribly expensive to get a hard, drive replaced, and most important, will I ever get my 8,000 plus books back?!
