Inserting a new page between 2 pages that share linked text in iwork pages 4.xx

I have a 10 page document where all of the text is continously linked. I want to insert a page with text and then I want to link that page to the pages preceeding and following that text. When I break the link on the previous page, all of my text vanishes on the subsequent pages. How do I break the link, leaving the text on the subesquent pages? Then I could just relink the three pieces of text.
