Or how else does one hook up two tb peripherals, like ethernet and tb display, two tb displays?
i have 50m wifi, which is the speed it reached on an uber-crappy win95 laptop. right next to it, on my pristine, near-new 2014 macbook air, i get 20-30 if i'm lucky.
so i want to go for ethernet, but i also need the tb for a 4k 40-inch display via tb-to-hdmi cable.
nothing in apple store.
thank you,
m

Thunderbolt is daisy chain only. Just buy one of the many thunderbolt docks out there that has Ethernet built in. Many even can do 4K over HDMI. No need for a splitter and you get ability to plug all of your peripherals into the dock so when you "get home" and want to use everything it is simply power and thunderbolt and you are ready to go....

EDIT: And 50mb wifi? I assume you are still on 802.11g? It's time to step up to N at least (if not AC!)...
