iMac 20" No Video when LVDS cable plugged in

My iMac has a working backlight but no video with the LVDS cable plugged in. There is no video from the mini DVI either when the LVDS cable is plugged in BUT when it is NOT plugged in, the external monitor works fine. I replaced the LVDS cable but that did not fix the problem. Any suggestions? Thanks
