Dear friends,
I tried understanding ALL steps involved in switching my current 1TB inside my late 2009 iMac running MacOS 10.9.5 with an SSD. I'd really love to get the minuscule abatement of the disk seek sounds on top of any other speed/reliablity improvement.

I wish to keep my optical bay and therefore would go for a replacement, not an addition. I hope you will be so patient to clarify several points:

a) What to buy: I need a 1TB replacement. Right now on amazon.it (I live in Italy) the EVO is 370 and the PRO is 490 Euros. Some threads suggest the PRO while being better is not worth the while on my iMac. Agree ?

b) What about this "thermal sensor" thingy ? I have found this ifixit guide for replacing an HDD but I am not sure the SSD has it. Would the HDD fan be spinning full force or any other anomaly behaviour ? https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/iMac+Intel+27-Inch+EMC+2309+and+2374+Hard+Drive+Replacement/1634 Might this kit http://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/DIDIMACHDD09/ work for the Samsung SSD in my late 2009 iMac ?

c) Would it be possible to "clone" my current HDD onto the new SSD and boot as if nothing had changed operating system wise ? Tools to clone (hardware and software) ?

Thank you so much for any help

Late 2009 iMac has SATA II. Max is 300MB/s.
So yes, PRO is overkill.

Hardware: USB-to-SATA adapter (€25).
Software: SuperDuper! (free)
