No idea if they prepare shipments over the weekend. I'm still in "Processing" as well, and have been for more than a month now.

The wait is really making me consider other options though. I'm not sure if I want the weight of an rMBP, but the price is compelling. I even looked at the 15" model, very tempting.

I've also drooled over the Surface Pro 3 several times now. What holds me back on that is the fact that while it is a very capable and well made PC, it is still a tablet form factor with a separate keyboard with kickstand and not a true clamshell laptop. I've been working with just my iPad and a Zagg Profolio keyboard/case for a couple of months now since my last computer died, and it just isn't as comfortable as a true clamshell. The Surface 3 (non-pro) is not really a contender as I question whether it would be up to some lightweight virtualization. The ASUS Zenbook UX305 may be the most attractive alternate option at the moment. I've had a lot of ASUS systems in the past, and while they have not been as well built as a Surface or an Apple product, they're still very good at what they do.

I like lightweight and portable, and love the idea of a power effficient computer in terms of the environmental footprint for the rMB. But is it really worth this long of a wait?

I bought the Surface Pro a couple of months ago and sold it off again after a week. It is a nice machine and Windows has come a long way. But the keyboard does not have a good feel, the trackpad is a joke, the i7 got hot quickly and the fan was running a lot and when connected to a monitor I always had to log out and back in to change the resolution. It is also not as practical as notebook computer ito of setup on the desk. I only used the tablet features for a day, but eventually it is a "computer" and not a tablet.

The wait has been so long I developed kidney stones, was hospitalised but discharged today and it still hasn't moved from processing!

Okay maybe can't blame Apple for that :D

I ordered mine from the Apple website Korea but ended up canceling to an unofficial store in Korea. Messages went out that all the Korean stores don't have the new Macbook. I'm returning to the US so just put in the order in the US apple store. Still stuck on "processing order." 3-5 weeks is quite a long time actually.

But I'm fine waiting, just my mistake was selling my old macbook air too early. I sold it thinking the macbooks would be ready on launch announcement. I was sure wrong!

Yes it is. Apple has given you a range of dates. Has the second date passed yet? No it hasn't? then go for a walk and enjoy the sunshine :)

It is worth the wait.

I just got mine today from best buy after waiting over a month for it. I love it. The only negative I have has nothing to with . When I opened the package there was another brown box that had the white MacBook box in it. When I pulled out the white box, I noticed it didn't have the plastic air tight wrap that usually  products come with. I thought that was odd but didn't think to much about it until I saw the laptop. Everything was out of place, the laptop had obvious smudges on it. I opened it, the wrist rest & also the screen had smudges all over it. not happy at all, I though at first they gave me a refurbished one. I called best buy cs & asked them if they had sent me used/refurbished machine & she said no, was a new laptop. Then I noticed that the second brown box had brown tape on top of the original brown tape seal. Whoever did this did a good job trying to repackage up the brown box. If it wasn't for all the smudges I probably wouldn't have noticed. Best buy rep told me she will have someone contact me in about 72hrs & see how they want to handle this. Right now with BB they are on backorder with at least a 2 ½ month wait. She notated my acct & said they might be able to a swap then once it's no longer on back order even if it's outside the 30day return window.

What would you guys do? It works fine, when I turned it on for the first time it prompted me through the initial set up. I'm thinking someone just opened it to check it out & play with it since it's a brand new product. Should I keep it & maybe try to fight for a partial credit for selling me an open box item or should I swap it out for another once they're no longer on backorder?

Any advice is greatly appreciated

I wouldn't keep it. First, as soon as that box was opened, it became a used product and lost value. I paid for new, I expect new. Second, who knows how it was treated or what they did to it when they opened it.

I would just take it right back to your nearest BB. Despite what the rep said, they either sold you a returned computer, or a BB decided to take it for a spin. Unacceptable. Take it back and either see if your local Apple store has one, or order one online with the 3-5 week date.

Sry I'm quoting this message instead of the other one, but the other one would kill the length of this thread :p
I'm 100% on with returning it. My advice is return it ASAP, and call the nearest stores that has Apple products (or Apple Store for that matter) and check out for the supplies.

Yup agree with this. Absolutely something shady about that opened packaging. It could have happened in transit as well, who knows? The only that is certain is that you have no idea what could have been going on with your MB by the person or people that opened it before you.

You paid for an unopened, brand new, untouched from the factory device...and didn't get what you paid for.

Anyone experienced error logging into apple account to check order status. Came to a page stating "We are sorry, something went wrong with your request. Try again later" :/

Should just go try the stores if theres one near you and bug them. I managed to get mine last week that way luckily.

I am not patient, ha

There were articles out a few weeks ago that Apple plans on selling in stores starting May 25. I'm going to start spamming stores then.

Kind of funny how a supposed failure of a product that no one wanted and has been roundly derided for being an overpriced toy is virtually sold out everywhere and is on backorder for months at many Apple authorized online stores. Did Apple massively misjudge demand or are there really this many people buying it?

I'm in the US, and I ordered from MacMall (to save on sales tax) on 4/20 and have thus far received ETA updates of 5/21 > 7/3 > 6/3 > 6/9 > 8/25!

I called this morning, and they said the latest notification from their supplier indicated late August. That's 3 months from now, and that would be over 4 months from the date of order if that ETA actually holds up. That's insane. I'll likely cancel my order and bite the bullet and pay the sales tax to get it sooner.

p.s. MacMall did ship the USB C adapter cable. I got that 3 weeks ago. Whoopee!

Well! I guess things are finally moving. Just checked the order status and I see it has switched from "Processing Order" to "Shipping to Store" and that my credit card shows a pending charge. I may actually get this thing yet! But then I'll have to find a new hobby, since whining about no MacBook may no longer apply. :p

Same here on the part of waiting for the longest device.

Apart from that it is nice to see that certain stores have demo sets of the units available for a visual and hands-on inspection. As well as the user opinions and information dispensed at this online forum, which helps ease the "pain" somewhat.

Luckily I tend to space out MTBFs between changes for my work laptops, and have some time left before the current reaches EOL, so the wait is not particularly worrisome.

If I could get a Gold 1.2 in the Local Apple store this weekend I might be tempted to cancel my order for a BTO 1.3/512gb. Only other way I would get my educational discount and I would save £103 difference between the 2 models.......though I have been waiting over 4 weeks already and maybe am best to hold out for the 1.3.....

I made that mistake I went for a SG 1.2/512 ended up returning it and getting the SG 1.3/512. I am glad I went for the 1.3.

Thanks for this - I'll stay strong! Though not easy starting to see on other thread people who ordered after me getting preparing and dispatched notifications.

My case has just arrived at work.

I don't know if this is the case for all locations, but I called about three Apple Stores in Southern California, and they all have the gold MacBooks in stock, as well as many other configurations. I think it's a good idea to check out your local store. If you are calling to check the inventory, state "Speak to someone at the store" and they will transfer you to the store themselves, rather than to some generic Specialist.
