I think that thats pretty much it, there are a couple of other acoustics hanging around but they aren't exactly named brands, so i won't bother with them.

...trems tweak necks back and forth and somehow the guitars take it...but i did have a superstrat with a washburn wonderbar (basically heavy metal style trem) and i wanged on that thing all day long ala steve vai and van halen and eventually the frets started coming loose on the neck

eddie van halen had this issue too, with loose frets, and his simple (but effective answer) was super glue

but these days i like more gentle music so there's no fear of injuring my guitars

Crazy, I haven't actually owned a guitar with a trem for a few years now, but I guess that would make sence

if i shelled out $2500-$10,000 dollars on an ibanez jem 777 with custom dimarzios and lo profile trem, esp george lynch graphic strat with his designed graphic, a fender custom shop floyd rose strat with limited run playboy logo, or a special limited run of 100 eddie van halen hand painted charvel strats, i would be very careful about how much i used that trem thing 🙂

i remember seeing the harley davidson steel bodied strat and tele pair, and with cases and official documentation, they went for $25,000 dollars...the good thing with those is that they were nearly indestructable and an eddie, jake, pete, or garth would not be able to break them onstage...they could try and twenty five grand is pocket change for dudes like that...heck, the electricity bill for a single concert from a show from any of these stars would easily exceed that...or at least eddie van halen's jack daniel's bill

but give me a four hundred dollar ibanez, ltd m-1, or mexican fender strat with floyd and i will be happy, and not be too worried to dive bomb away and make my neighbors think i am revving a motorcycle in my bedroom 😉

Yeah, my Jackson has nice Floyd Rose trems, but I wouldn't ever abuse them too much, the guitar doesn't seem to appreciate it too much. Now if I could find out what kind of guitar the guy from Dragonforce uses (saw them live last week) - cause he kept picking up the guitar and shaking it around by the whammy bar, and man. Mine would die if I tried that more than once.

steve vai kept breaking his original floyd rose trem so he got together with ibanez and came up with the lo profile professional trem found on many ibanez guitars on the higher end, $1500 dollars and up, and the same lo profile trem that's on his $3000 dollar "horsie jem" ibanez guitar

but the lower end ibanez guitars have a higher profile trem, similar to the original floyd rose, and those will suffer the same fate as steve vai's original floyd rose trems and get loose on the mounts

one key to extreme trem bending, like holding the guitar up by the whammy bar and swinging it around, is to have a heavy duty system that is routed lower and deeper into the body for a lower center of gravity...and it' also important that the trem is back routed so it could be pulled sharp

but don't try this on a gretsch, fender, or rickebacker with a bigsby trem!

My main guitar is a mexican tele, sunburst with vintage noiseless pickups. Also have a couple of squiers. The only amp i have right now is only a small fender practice amp. Have a cofin case pedal board with boss ds1, eh small clone and cry baby.

He has an Ibanez S series guitar. I think his guitar has the "Edge" Tremolo (the one jefhatfield is talking about) S's now come with a ZR tremolo which is really great as well.
Also I believe his guitar is set up with 2 hipshot tremsetters to survive and be able to return to pitch after being grabbed and yanked like that from the tremolo.

oh, that's the name of the trem...the "edge" trem...that's the durable one

my perfect "when i am in the shredding mood" guitar would have that very edge trem, an esp neck with 24 frets on a canadian rock maple neck, emg pickups in the H-S-H mode with neck pickup being an emg 89 and the bridge pickup being and emg 81, and the single coil being a standard emg single coil

the body would be an ibanez alan holdsworth alder body, the tuners would be black chrome schallers, and the paint job would be jet black nitrose celluose, hand rubbed, from valley arts guitar

i would like to have two cases...a fender vintage tweed case with pink fur, and a flight worthy flight case with temperature and humidity control

and yes, that rivera amp, no, two of them, in stereo, would be nice

and while i am at it, i could use a hybrid hummer to get me around on the ground and a lear jet for longer tours

i could get randy jackson as my bassist, simon cowell as my tour manager, and paula, well, hmm, you know 😉

my pr man could be dick morriss

my financial manager would be rick belluzo (money man behind microsoft empire and former president of the company)

record producer...actually, randy again

music lawyer...actually resurrect clarence darrow from the dead

Here's my set up. I bought myself the Rickenbacker for Christmas and I just "pimped out" my Fender amp with NOS RCA 6V6GT tubes and legs.
The Spanish guitar is a 1974 Garcia.
The Acoustic is a BlueRidge model 160.
The little amp is a Supro "Spectator" that I fixed up.
The pedal is a Elexectro Harmonix Tube Zipper.

Some of my friends and I are starting a Funk band so I'm having a lot of fun with this stuff.😀

On the right, my pride and joy - A Gibson Les Paul from the custom shop. An R6 Historic, with the rare Brazilian Rosewood fretboard, CTS pots, and bumblebee caps. I asked them if they would carve the neck extra fat (a little fatter than a standard SG) and they obliged. Gibson told me that because it's left handed it's the only guitar like it they'd ever built - and probably would be since Brazilian production was getting shut down again.

On the left, a Fender Strat that's comprised of parts from three different Strats. It's an American body, Japanese pickup assembly, and a Mexican neck. I have the American parts, I just wanted to play on a maple fretboard for a while, so on this neck went. Mexican hardware because i hate the hardware they put on the American models nowadays. I'm currently experimenting with a Seymour Duncan Hotrails in the bridge position. It's o, it'll probably come out in a few days.

On the right, my holy grail amp - The Rivera Fandango. I've had several amps - Orange's, Marshall's, and Fender's, and this amp blows them all away. It is literally the best sounding amp I've ever heard.

Of course, good sound is in the ear of the beholder, so there yo go.

I have a big fancy pedal board with all my effects on it, but I was too lazy to drag it out for the picture.

My Radium 61 key Midi controller is hiding behind the Strat as well.

thank you...that guitar would be a fantasy handbuilt which could not be made in less than a year for less than ten grand...counting travel and shipping costs...i tried to build a fantasy guitar from easy to find parts once (washburn wonderbar, seymour duncan custom color jb lead pickup, esp body and neck, gotoh tuners, custom pickguard, and kahler locking nut) and it cost me fifteen hundred when i could have bought a similar already built guitar (kramer baretta, american strat with floyd, or ibanez r or s series for well under a thousand)

the built it yourself and lose your money game is over for me...i am quite ok with stock guitars

for a single coil based guitar, an highway1 american tele or american standard tele would be just fine (street cost 650-900 dollars with case)

for a humbucker guitar, a faded cherry sg, or faded les paul, both made in america would be just fine (street cost less than 600 with case)

for a shredder, a joe satriani signature model (the japanese higher end model) would fit the bill (just over 1150 dollars with case)...the korean model, still a very nice guitar, with case is only 650 dollars...but then i would put in a couple of dimarzio pickups (75 dollars each online, 100 dollars each street) to bring it up to speed

i don't think ultra handbuilt or customized guitars sound or play better, they just have bragging rights like the axes found in the gibson, gretsch, ibanez, epiphone, fender, and esp custom shops which can go from a $1500 epiphone 1963 reissue dot 335, to a $4500 dollar custom built esp viper, to a $6000 dollar jimmy page 1959 les paul reissue, all the way to a $12,500 dollar harley davidson fender guitar which can also be bought as a strat/tele pair for $25,000 dollars..of course i mentioned some of these instruments in previous posts so if anyone here has one, please post a picture

but if i had to have one guitar, i would pass on the american standard tele and gibson faded sg, or pass on the high end ibanez joe satriani model, and take that nearly $1500 dollars and get the epiphone custom shop 1963 reissue dot ( www.epiphone.com/elitist/335dot.htm )...made in korea, made from choice south american woods, set up in america with gibson parts and pickups...and a guitar like that is cool because:

(oh yeah, fender has a custom shop 1963 reissue tele, but that's well over two grand and out of my monetary comfort zone and to be honest, two grand would be much better spent on a MACBOOK PRO 🙂 🙂 🙂

Ok first is my equip.

Samson 8 Track Mixer. Send everything into this beast first, and then from there it's sent out stereo to my now BUSTED Inspire 1394.

The mic is a Digital Reference DR-CX1 condenser. Works fine for vocals and is great for my acoustic.

Last is my Marshall S80 8240. It has 2 12" but I think they were jacked and replaced with some cheaper ones. I got this on ebay for like $200.

Alright and now my guitars!

Fender Strat "Tom Delonge" - My first "band" all we did was Blink 182, Green Day, NFG, etc. covers so I thought I should get something with a lot of distortion, so I went with this. It doesn't get any play now, and if it wasn't a "collecters' item It would have been on ebay by now.

Martin DCX1KE - I really wanted a Taylor, but after working all summer I only had enough for this Martin. It's actually a really nice acoustic for the price ($~700) Has a really nice deep sound, and has a nice pickup for plugging in.

Gibson SG - I love this thing. Whenever I feel like jammin' I pick this thing up and get crazy. Such an awesome guitar, and has a great feel. Playing this makes me want a Les Paul even more, so after I get my MPB the Les Paul is next haha.

We just brought this Fender Super Reverb Amp home for our son. It was given to him by his uncle who no longer plays. All we had to do was shell out $75 for repairs at a guitar shop. It turned some heads when we took it in to the shop, but we never bothered to ask what date it was made. (I'm thinking @ '71, 72?) Can anyone spot guess what year make or tell us where to look? We've checked on the tube chart but there's no hand stamped letters on it. Anyone?

Those amps are great. I have a super reverb made about 5 years earlier than that one. All the modern amps have far more bells and whistles these days, but you really can't beat the tone of the old fenders. My buddy's got a '63 fender tweed amp that someone told him was worth about $1500 😱

Checking out vintage, Fender Amps, I'm not surprised that it's worth that. We found that this one is a '72 with casters. Those tubes really sound sweet.

Not exactly my "setup" since I live in a small apt...but here are my to guitars side by side

When I get a bigger place I intend to scrap one, buy a better one, and put together a better setup.

i was born then too and i like the epiphone 1963 dot...can't you tell 🙂

i got the closest looking thing with my funds to that epiphone custom shop 1963 dot reissue 335...for just under $400 dollars street, i got an ibanez artcore semi-hollowbody that looks a lot like the '63 epiphone...so much that epiphone and gibson sued ibanez on the artcore semi-hollowbody so ibanez made small changes to the dimensions of the guitar and voila, a legal model

i was also looking at the epiphone dot, the standard model, which is extremely close to the epiphone custom shop 1963 dot reissue 335, and identical in dimensions, and it was also the same price as the $400 dollar ibanez, but the ibanez had the better neck and comparable pickups

for thousands of dollars, gibson makes a 1963 block inlay reissue of the 335 semi-hollowbody and that will never be in my reach...but if i had three grand i would get the 1963 reissue epiphone for $1300 where i saw it on musiciansfriend.com and spend the rest on a nice new intel mac
