is it at all possible to rotate a quicktime movie?

i was just wondering. my girlfriend shot a short movie with my digital camera and she had it turned sideways, so you've got to turn your head to view it right.

i need to rotate it 90 degrees counterclockwise. i've got quicktime pro 6.whatever (the newest) -- is there anything else i need if this is possible?

oh yea, it's an mpeg if that matters.

I accidentally my whole location.
Open the file in Quicktime (duh)...then go to Movie/Get Movie Properties (or just hit cmd-J), select MPEG1 Muxed track in the first column and Size in the second. You should then have some buttons on the bottom that allow you to rotate and flip the movie...but as for saving it like that...well....Quicktime has some problems with MPEG-1 files, they tend to lose the audio when you export them to another format so you may have to find some way to extract it before you do the rotating and such...

Rotate movie in Quicktime Player

Is there a way to rotate a Quicktime movie 90 degrees using Quicktime Player, or using free software? I don't really want to have to pay $20 or so just so that I can rotate movies taken by my digital camera to an upright position.

yeah, I have normal Quicktime, (not Pro) and I don't have that option to rotate my mpegs and avi files.. any freeware or software???

How to Rotate a QuickTime Video 90 Degrees

I figured out how to do this. It involves using two separate
programs, one to convert the Quicktime movie file into a .avi
file, and the other to rotate the .avi file.

1. Use RAD Video Tools from http://www.radgametools.com/bnkdown.htm to convert
the QuickTime file into a .avi file. (Download is free; they take
donations. I gave them $5 thru PayPal.) Browse to the Quick-
Time file, select it, click on "Convert a File", enter the output
file name, click Convert, choose a compressor (I used Indeo
video 5.10 with quality set to 100, it worked well), click OK,
and when it finishes converting, click Done and close the
program.

2. Use Virtual Dub from http://www.virtualdub.org/index to rotate the .avi file. Do File, Open Video File and
browse to the .avi file and open it. Then, do Video, Filters,
Add, select Rotate, OK, select Left by 90 or whatever, OK, OK,
and then File, Save as AVI, enter the file name, OK, and let
it do the conversion.

The resulting file in my case was much larger than the input
file, so I ran the output file back through RAD Video Tools
and converted it using the Indeo Video 5.10 compressor and
it became small size again.

A lot of work just to rotate a video, but it does work.

I succeded at transforming the file, however, when i attempt to use it in my iWeb page, it reverts to the original format! I have double checked and I am using the correctly rotated file yet iWeb will let me place it on my page but then it's magically in its original form, how can I fix this?

For Quicktime Pro users:
1. In QuickTime Player, choose Window > Show Movie Properties.
2. In the Properties window, select a video track and click Visual Settings.
3. To resize the movie, type new numbers in the Current Size fields.
4. To keep the same height-to-width proportions, select Preserve Aspect Ratio.
5. To rotate the movie, click one of the rotate buttons.

Rotate mov with Quicktime Player V10

I would like to rotate mov with Quicktime Player v10 and have tried to follow other instructions but the Window menu does not have Show Movie Properties, only Show Movie Inspector and Show Export Progress.

You need to use QuickTime Player 7. You can install it from the DVD that came with your mac.

How to rotate a QuickTime video

In Picassa, rotate it, then save to disk in rotated form.
